All evidence points to them being called "Chrestians" for the first 400 years, so why does the official narrative deny this so obsessively like they had murdered the family dog and fed it to the kids?

>Chrestians
Looks like that was an insult, or deliberate mispronunciation of the Christ followers' group name

Yes this is the lie pushed by institutional Christian scholars for hundreds of years until it was realized that the first two official institutional Bibles (Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Vaticanus) consistently used "chrestus" and "chrestians" and then they found the oldest preserved christian church building and the mosaic inscription there also said "chrestian".

But even so, the lie keeps being pushed, it's all just coincidences, the Romans are still "spelling it wrong", "making insults", etc.

"Chrestian" and "Chrestos" seems to have been the dominant form until Theodisius when there was a huge push to wipe out anything that had any connection to anything that could be considered greek or roman to prevent any chance of another Julian.

>Christians worship idols!
Try again.

no evidence points to this. there's one reference to 'followers of chrestus', and the consensus is that this is a different mental illness.

The original symbol of Christians was not the cross, it was the Chi Rho.

Then why does the oldest preserved Bible, a surviving one of the ones Eusebius had made at the request of Constantine, originally use 'Chrestian' consistently, and we can then see some Theodisian scribe has scraped away the 'e's and replaced them with 'i's?

It was Chrestian until everyone got their panties in a twist and had to erase all the naughty greek stuff after Julian had given them the big scare
