Did Cato really dress like a buddhist monk in the senate?
I’ve tried to bring this up before. Greco Roman toga’s seem to be connected to traditional Buddhist and Islamic clothing. A lot of Greco Roman clothing does actually. Even the veils that Muslim woman wear.

During the civil wars Cato refused to eat while reclining out of protest for Caesar's treatment of the Republic in a sort of "well since a barbarian is in charge I might as well eat like one." I dunno if Romans wore black as a color of mourning but I could see him being overly dramatic and doing that to prove a point.
