Are churches being beautiful a bad reason to want to convert to Christianity? I’ve been comparing places of worship in other religions and nothing else seems so divinely inspired.
>>18622558It is literal idolatory.
>>18622558>beautifulLol no Furthermore, ALL of these churches and castles are all forged because they are a modern reconstruction and restoration of what Europe produced well when it was pagan and venerated versions of Rudra or Dyaus (Odin and Zeus). See how this architecture is redundant, just like Semitic thought.
>>18622570>larpagan >its Indian. You guys don't even try to hide it anymore, lmao
There are better more beautiful buildings
>>18622558if you don't enjoy arguing and selectively moralfagging you won't enjoy christianity. i say this as a christian.
actually gothic cathedrals are fake and never existedtheir construction haltage also certainly does not perfectly coincide with protestantism
''It is by his being taught to contemplate himself as an outlaw, as an outcast, as a beggar, as a mumper, as one thrown as it were on a dunghill, at an immense distance from his Creator, and who must make his approaches by creeping, and cringing to intermediate beings, that he conceives either a contemptuous disregard for everything under the name of religion, or becomes indifferent, or turns what he calls devout. In the latter case, he consumes his life in grief, or the affectation of it. His prayers are reproaches. His humility is ingratitude. He calls himself a worm, and the fertile earth a dunghill; and all the blessings of life by the thankless name of vanities. He despises the choicest gift of God to man, the gift of reason; and having endeavoured to force upon himself the belief of a system against which reason revolts, he ungratefully calls it “human reason,” as if man could give reason to himself.''
>>18622796its from chapter 8 of the first part of the age of reason. Titled ''on the new testament. Free on standard ebooks in case anyone wants to check it out.https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/thomas-paine/the-age-of-reason
Screw organized religion anon. Its a scam to take your and other peoples money. Its anti intellectual and psychologically harmful as well as false.
Always disliked gothic cathedrals as being overdesigned and ugly, but I like hindu temples even though they are also overdesigned. There is a really beautiful one in my city.
thomas paine died destitute, broken, and emasculated. Only six people attended his funeral: a French family of three, an irishman, and two niggers. He lost all his friends and followers because he couldn't go two seconds without attacking people for being christcuck hypocrites worshipping skydaddy and a zombie on a stick. There's nothing wrong with atheism, most of Paine's former allies, the Founding Fathers, were not openly devout Christians. But people who make it their life work to tell everyone else how irrational and cucked they are for making themselves slaves to a zombie jew are not pleasant people to be around.Everyone knows religion is irrational and faith-based. if that's all you have to say, people won't listen for long
>God: Thou shalt not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth>(You): HOLY GUACAMOLE, THAT'S A COOL IDOL!
>>18622832so if it was a big house but it was ugly then it wouldn't be an idol? What if it was a very beautiful house but didn't tower over the village and was very small, like it could only fit two or three people inside. Is there a formula for size vs. beauty where if you violate that formula and go too far on either axis, it becomes an idol? What if everyone just takes one glance at the church then shuts their eyes without worshipping it, is that OK? How many glances are allowed?
>>18622834You want to "convert" because you think buildings are cool. You are an idolater.
>>18622840i'm not OP i'm >>18622595
>>18622558They stopped building them like that and they are open for visitors, anon.
>>18622848where?
>>18622849OP pic is Cologne, Germany. Visiting hours for tourists: 10:00–17:45
>>18622828Yeah youre right. Its just that this is all really recent for me. Im processing a lot of things and havent had time to grow and become interested in other things. And I was raised in a somewhat fundamentalist household, so this was a big part of my life growing up.
>>18622828Thank you for the advice honestly. The topic of religion is really isolating, because it makes both theists and atheists uncomfortable, the latter just want to not have to think about religion in any way and the former do not want anyone to bash/ shake their faith.I really wanted to talk about the book im reading, but it would be better to read it quietly.
>>18622828>Everyone knows religion is irrational and faith-basedThat's quite an assumption. Are you sure that religious people know that? Nobody is talking about how institutional religious-faith opens the door for political subversion, and it needs to be discussed. The conversation can't go in a constructive direction on this subject if you only emphasize how "uncomfortable it feels". I'd rather appeal to logic and what can be objectively verified, than to emotion, personally. But I'm not an atheist, an Indian, nor am I someone who believes in Abrahamic faith either
>>18622886So what are you? a deist?
>>18622558These buildings are beautiful because they were built by white people, not because they were built by Christians
>>18622558Shinto shrines are way prettier
>>18622832OP here. I don't understand your logic because you aren't worshiping the building itself or saying it literally represents any of those things. Your logic is the equivalent of saying all the beautiful Christian inspired paintings of the Renaissance are idols or anytime God and Jesus are depicted in art its idolatry.
>>18622558>Are churches being beautiful a bad reason to want to convert to Christianity? I’ve been comparing places of worship in other religions and nothing else seems so divinely inspired.Yes. Most of those beautiful buildings are packed with idols and are the habitations of WITCHCRAFT in the form of the Catholic mass. Convert based on the doctrine; It's far more beautiful than stained glass and old perverts in dresses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foRtBHXM16A
luvverly jubbly
>>18622558Churches are beautiful because they're built by white people, not because God is real
>>18623903this, it has nothing to do with the religion at hand and everything to do with the people who build them
>>18623903>the religion had 0 influence on the soul of the peopleidiot
>>18622562retard
The people of Kievan Rus converted to orthodox christianity after seeing how beautiful hagia sophia was so its not unsualIm sure catholics and muslims have similiar histories
>>18624032Can’t say I blame them

>>18622583Lol what an ugly piece of shitThe Temple of mutt its must be
>>18623488This post has to be some Catholic trying to make Protestants look insane, surely.
>>18624370Your critical faculty is worthless.
Stark tower is better should I pray to Disney?
>>18623484>>18622840
I'm gonna convert to whatever religion has that fancy sphere in Vegas.
>>18622558The only reason why anyone should convert to a religion is material benefits. My ancestors converted to Christianity because our rulers wanted to both get lucrative trade deals with the Byzantines, as well as imperial recognition of their kingdoms by Rome. Since Byzantine Rome was closer and had more influence we converted to Orthodoxy instead of Catholicism. If tomorrow being a Muslim gives me a material advantage over non-muslims I would convert in a heartbeat. Of course I wouldn't actually believe in any of their nonsense and would lie to my teeth about following their rules (I'm not getting circumcised, and I'm not gonna quit eating pork and drinking alcohol, I'll just pretend to be following their rules). Same with Buddhism or any other religion.
>>18626782Ah yes, here we see the materialist/atheist with no morals, just wants more possessions and will go along with anything that gets him that sweet dopamine hit. No concept of truth, just profit and loss. Truly a midwit take.
>>18626806Cope and seethe all you want friend, 99% of the population have no morals and will gladly switch sides with the winner if given the opportunity. How did the entire Middle East go from majority Christian to majority Muslim with Christians being less then 1% in some nations. Easy, those Christians didn't really care about their faith, at least not enough to die for it. When given the choice between living as dhimmies, palyng exorbitant tax rates and being at the mercy of Muslims they just did the smart thing and convert to Islam. Just as European pagans converted to Christianity because it made more sense to be close to and get legitimacy from Rome.
