How do histmats explain the USA and the British Empire (the two biggest capitalist entities on Earth) giving billions worth of supplies and weapons to Stalin?
Similar to how China as we know it today could not exist if the USA wasn't their primary trade partner. Communism is incapable of standing on its own, otherwise it ends up being a hermit kingdom like North Korea
>>18624061The fact that they were communists is irrelevant.Russia was backwards before the communists took over, it wasnt going to magically change with communists either. The US held like half of the entire worlds industrial capacity at the time. This whole topic is just ridiculous. A better discussion would be why the USSR was still getting economically mogged by the capitalist west during the final years of the cold war when they should at least made some recovery from the devastation of ww2.
Since the Napoleonic wars, Britain worked to prevent a single hegemonic power from emerging in Europe. They needed the European powers as distracted by politics close to home as possible, to give the British less competition abroad. To that end, neither the Communists nor the the Nazis were natural allies of Britain, since both threatened Britain's imperial and economic ambitions. The communists were subversive and spreading their poison to all parts of the globe per their ideology, and the Nazis would have controlled a majority of Europe's industrialized cities had their conquests remained unchallenged. So for Britain, the choice was between a devil and a monster. The Communists, though, had no shortage of enemies everywhere. It was the world against the Commies. Britain was convinced they could fight the communists later and win. The Nazis, though... they were scary.
>>18624100If the chief goal of capital was to destroy communism, why didn't they just allow an avowed anti-communist regime to do it?The Soviets had even more resources and land mass and had already tried to support communist revolutions via the Commintern and sending aid to communists in the Spanish Civil War. The French and British both openly tolerated the Commintern. (((Leon Blum))) signed a mutual aid program with the Soviets. The French and British both openly sent aid to the Spanish Republicans. >The Nazis, though... they were scary.Surely they realized they would have been severely weakened by the war in Europe. Also, it's not like Germany had to force projection to harm the USA or something like Australia, New Zealand, etc. Also, even if the Nazis could control all of Eastern Europe (unlikely); it would still be an empire that tolerated capital and maybe eventual trade, not one that was hostile the notion of capital like the Soviets and their Eastern Bloc. Speaking of the latter, it's also telling how the Anglos never demanded the Soviets to release Poland or any of the other Eastern European conquests where they installed Bolshevik leadership by force.
>>18624113>it's also telling how the Anglos never demanded the Soviets to release PolandBritain opposed it. They were just powerless to stop it. America didnt really care
>>18624100>Britain worked to prevent a single hegemonic power from emerging in Europe. Then why did they take every action to ensure it happened?Germany was the smaller of France and Germany.Germany was the smaller of The USSR and Germany.Britain always sided with the bigger fish, this is exactly the opposite of the strategy you claim.
>>18624061Conversely the axiom that Capitalists will sell the rope with which they will be hanged is also true. Profit seekers don't care if the country they are investing in is a geopolitical rival as long as business there is worthwhile.
>>18624113>Speaking of the latter, it's also telling how the Anglos never demanded the Soviets to release Poland or any of the other Eastern European conquests where they installed Bolshevik leadership by force. Are you familiar with the Cold War? Its not like the Capitalist bloc and the Communist bloc remained friends forever after once Germany was dealt with.
>>18624175That implies that capitalists are all irrational and can't comprehend 3rd-order consequences.
>>18624171>He think the bigger the country, the more powerful he his. That's not how it works, anon.
>>18624056That's actually easy : <US and GB are at war with Germany<USSR is at war with Germany<US and GB help USSR because the more germans soldiers are busy dying on the eastern front, the less they need to face them by themselves.
>>18624171bro are you retarded?we are not talking literal size, but power.Which is why mostly the UK fought against france. As france was Europes great power for most of the time anything resembling england existed.
>>18624699Capitalists helping communists is bizarre, though.>UK and USA are at warOf their own volition, out of ideological/moral commitments. Hitler offered the UK multiple peace deals and the fat alcoholic refused. There's less material interest in communists dominating half of Europe than an empire with a market economy dominating half of Europe.
>>18624186Yes.
>>18625111Conflict with Britain was inevitable because the Nazis believed Britain was ruled by the same clique of International Jewish Finance that ruled the Soviet Union, and the destruction of Jewry was Hitler's main goal. And Nazi Gemrany didn't have a market economy.
>>18624093It was backwards, but it was still like the 3rd largest economy in the world in 1914, behind only the US and the UK. Tankies love to pretend that Russia before the revolution didn't have electricity and so on.
>>18624176The Cold War was always half hearted at best. The Capitalist Bloc and the Communist Bloc still engaged in trade and were financially linked.
>>18625124So you're smarter than most CEOs who deal with planning finances years in advance?
>>18625129>And Nazi Gemrany didn't have a market economy. They did, though it was a national populist focused one and later they had sanctions placed on them. That's something else to comprehend - capitalists intentionally harming the flow of trade via sanctions.
Why didn't capitalists try to coup Churchill when London was getting bombed and he ignored peace deals?
>>18625111Have you ever heard the phrase about war making strange bedfellows? WW2 is a perfect example of that.
>>18624056BULLSHIT IMAGEBULLSHITOf the total of approximately US$50.1 billion shipped by the American Lend-Lease program during World War II,The United Kingdom (England and British allies) received approximately 63% (US$31.4 billion), while the Soviet Union (USSR) received approximately 22.5% (US$11.3 billion). The remainder was distributed among France, China, and other allies. To understand how this distribution was broken down in terms of gross values and overall program proportions, see the key data:Division of Values and PercentagesUnited Kingdom: Approx. US$ 31.4 billion (about 63% of the total program).Soviet Union (USSR): Approx. US$ 11.3 billion (about 22.5% of the total program).France: Approx. US$ 3.2 billion (about 6% ).China: Approx. >>18624186Capitalists yes. Democratic countries with a capitalist economy can. If they haven't handed over too much power to capital.Like at any point ever in history have they done anything to defend themselves. They usually do their best to undermine democracy, when as soon as it's dead autocracy will simply remove any power they wielded.
>>18625785Money itself is not power. It can buy power, but the real power is still in the hand wielding the gun or standing behind the pulpit. As soon as the power doesn't consent to being bought capitalists are powerless. Money doesn't buy true loyalty. If it did the world would be run entirely by mega corps and their mercenaries.
>>18625799It's the other way around, France, UK and Russia were the natural allies aganist Germany. Hatred towards communism thrown wedge into that so the WW1 anti-german coalition didn't form until 1941
