>Man, I wish there was a language where words were gendered (which is something retarded in and out of itself) just like romance languages, but unlike romance languages you could not tell the gender of a given word just by looking at it
>>
>>18624229
most of the time you can tell, does not make it any less excusable
i've heard arguments that this language just gets a bad name cause of their continental chimpout and the angry speeches of the austrian painter but no fuck the krauts and their disgusting nasal abomination of a tongue
charlemagne should have genocided them harder when he had the oppurtunity
>>
il mano
lo mano
no?
la mano
>>
>>18624229
Charlemagne was german
>>
>>18624229
why only an accent up north? isn't it their homeland?
>>
>>18624229
There are multiple languages that work like that
>>
>>18624229
You can tell about 80-90 percent of the time if you follow the rules in a guide like this (though honestly the endings do most of the heavy lifting, because that's how IE-style noun class works in general).
https://germanwithlaura.com/noun-gender/
>(which is something retarded in and out of itself)
It serves the purpose of disambiguation and redundancy.
>>
>>18624248
Every language has some irregularities, but some have more than others. (Navajo has no regular verbs- that is, no two Navajo verbs are conjugated the same.)

>nasal
What the fuck are you talking about, it's literally not nasal at all. French and Portuguese have more nasal sounds than German. Even American English accents are nasal compared to German, which is mor gutural.
>>18624229
As a GSL learner, the gender thing is honestly a scary hurdle at first but once you reach a certain level of proficiency with it and vocab knowledge it becomes quite instinctive and you end up being correct 90% of the time
>>
>>18624303
And they are all stupid
>>
>>18624430
Man I bet they are grateful we forced them to learn English
>>
>>18624485
No one's native language is difficult for them.
>>
>>18624487
Until you learn English and realize your native language sucks.
>>
>>18624503
Lol. Lmao even.
>>
>>18624508
If those languages were so great we wouldn't all be speaking English now. English predominates in every society it is introduced because it's just that good.
>>
>>18624509
English predominates because of the British Empire followed by American hegemony. Before English was the international language it was French, then before that it was Latin, before that Greek, before that Aramaic.
>>
>>18624229
>which is something retarded in and out of itself
All the great languages are gendered but you probably don't speak any so your ignorance is forgiven. Some have a neutral gender too which you should be very happy about as your preferred pronoun is already built into the language.
>>
>>18624240
Karl der Grosse spoke Deutsch you brain rotted homosexual
>>
>>18624509
English predominates because it's easy like a cheap whore, and we live in Babylon times. Back then when the world was not so cheap and men were men, intellectuals spoke Latin which is like a beautiful but demanding mistress
>>
>>18624452
He meant to say guttural and used the wrong term
Probably an esl
>>
>>18624537
Neutral gender is generally for inanimate objects.
>>18624543
This is also nonsense.
>>
>>18624546
Describes you perfectly
This is why I trust in ancient wisdom
>>
>>18624546
Are you denying that English is an easy language?
>>
>>18624543
I can't imagine latin was that hard to learn when half of europe had grown up speaking an ebonics slumdog derivative of it
>>
>>18624563
It's easy to learn the basics and use broken english but speaking like a native is extremely difficult from what I've been told
>>
>>18624563
It's not among the hardest, but easy and hard depend heavily on your native language. For a Pole, Russian will be easier than English.
>>
>>18624229
>NOOOO i wan my language to be neutral time respect the trans people that dosent fit into the tyrannical two gender systems
Why are angloids like that? You are the only neutral languages in the whole Europe, and the only of the whole IE branch family together with Persian? Just Stick with the rest of us and start using gendered words again, like the ancient Aryans did
>>
>>18624563
Its has a utterly retarded and irregular spelling system. Also you need to see the context to understand if "you" in a specific moment is refering to a single individual or multiple ones, for example
>>
>>18624571
>i wan my language to be neutral time
saaarrrrrrrrrrrrr
>>
>>18624571
>You are the only neutral languages in the whole Europe
Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian, Basque.
>and the only of the whole IE branch family together with Persian?
Bengali, Kurdish, Armenian. Just off the top of my head.
>Just Stick with the rest of us and start using gendered words again, like the ancient Aryans did
Gender doesn't re-evolve that easily.
>>18624574
That's precisely why most spoken dialects of English have re-evolved plural second-person pronouns like "youse", "you guys", "y'all"...
>>
>>18624566
You kinda disproved yourself with that comment
And Classical Latin is definitely hard, but also beautiful and logical
>>
>>18624614
It's not especially more logical than any other language. Unless you tautologically define "logical" as "like Latin".
>>
>>18624614
You're free to provide proof that learning latin as a romance language speaker is equally difficult as someone raised speaking a non-romance language
>>
>>18624661
I've heard it suggested that it's easier for them to learn functional Latin but harder for them to learn to produce fully correct Classical Latin because they've got interference from their native language running in the background the whole time.
>>
>>18624579
>Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian, Basque.
Not Indoeuropean
>Bengali, Kurdish, Armenian. Just off the top of my head.
Imagine being proud of sharing some specific linguistic oddities with these shitskin languages that never produce anything of cultural value
>>
>>18624687
>Not Indoeuropean
You said "in Europe", not "Indo-European languages in Europe".
>never produce anything of cultural value
How would you know? You don't speak them.
>>
>>18624429
>You can tell about 80-90 percent of the time
No you can't, if you do the math and look at the whole word list you will see it's more like 50-60% using like 50 or more endings

There are low hanging fruits in German like -ung, -ion, -e(80%) for feminine and -er for masculine which knock down about 33% of the word count, but then it gets increasingly harder
>>
>>18624614
Classical latin is one of the easiest languages in the world retard
>>
>>18625442
I'd be curious what the result is if you just try with randomly chosen German nouns.
>>
>>18624278
it's a different language
>>
>>18624538
Deutsch in the traditional sense, but his dialect wasn't ancestral to modern high german
>>
>>18624229
Language is something organic. You don't construct it to suit your idealized, platonic ideals. Every single artificial language is soulless garbage invented by Communist freaks.

>>18624278
Because our nation was originally made up of five distinct Germanic tribes. The Saxons are one of them. That's their dialect area.

>>18624563
English since the vowel shift is retarded. I have never seen an Anglo pronounce Latin correctly, because some Anglo Teens hundreds of years ago thought it was funny to speak retarded and it caught on. For Anglos speaking Latin is very difficult.
>>
>>18626056
>Every single artificial language is soulless garbage invented by Communist freaks.
Esperanto originated as an artificial language, but it's become the language of a living community. I dare you to read the poetry of Auld or Kalocsay and call it soulless.
>>
>>18625711
Wrong and you're the retard guptpreet
>>
>>18624661
I've seen a lot of Italian high school students miserably fail Latin, some of them mulitple times. I'm assuming it's even worse for Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, or French
>>
>>18626016
>ackshually
He spoke AltDeutsch with a Franconian accent. My point has not moved an inch, despite your irrelevant hair splitting
>>
>>18624487
True in that people correctly speak their "organic" native language, but super anally strict prescriptive cultures like the French are infamous for having many native speakers speaking 'incorrectly' (according to the Academie Francaise of course) because certain grammatical constructs fall out of usage or are very rarely utilized in spoken speech.
Brazilian spoken Portuguese and Brazilian written Portuguese is another example of this. Favelados obviously are quite capable of conjugating verbs and everything, but they don't necessarily do it the way University professors and Elitist Academy members wish they did.
>>
>>18624566
Classical Latin grammar is hard even for Romance speakers because it uses a Case system which is entirely foreign to how French or Spanish or even Italian works. Also iirc Latin has a third neutral gender, whereas modern Romance languages all only have Male and Female
>>
>>18624574
>Also you need to see the context to understand if "you" in a specific moment is refering to a single individual or multiple ones, for example
Oh man just wait until you learn about the formal Sie and the plural third person Sie in German (both conjugated the exact same way).
Even Vous in French (can be either a plural you or a formal you) is like this to an extent.
>>
>>18626171
People will still fail miserably at a language even if it's easy for them if they're not motivated, the question is whether it's easiER for them.
>>18626291
They speak their native language fine irrespective of how well they speak the AF's conlang based on it.
>>18626295
They do at least still have cases on pronouns.

Pretty much nobody learns Latin at school in France these days. People are way more concerned with learning English and then another living spoken language, such as Spanish or German.
I bet even Arabic is in higher demand nowadays, not even memeing about it in a /pol/ way
>>
>>18626302
>They do at least still have cases on pronouns
I mean so does English (who, whom, he, him, etc...) but these fossils don't help much when they have to truly master something like German NoAkDaGe cases
>>
>>18626303
Tjat's sad frogbro. Even in German-speaking countries they still have it in some schools. You guys invented the modern lycaeum, the type of high school where Latin is mandatory, how did it disappear from your curriculum?
>>
>>18624579
>That's precisely why most spoken dialects of English have re-evolved plural second-person pronouns like "youse", "you guys", "y'all"...
Don't make excuses for that common trash.
>>
Why are Swiss, Austrians, Alsatians & even Luxembourgers sometimes considered German but never the Dutch?
>>
>>18626511
Because the Dutch themselves don't identify as such, whereas Austrian pan-Germanism was still popular until it was literally banned at gunpoint by their conquerors.
>>
>>18626452
France is a country which, at least since the Revolution, has always cared about "rational" systems and being in step with modernity (or worse, defining what modernity even is). The government has never hesitated to reform what it perceives as antiquated institutions and systems, rewrite old customs, reorganize farmland which previously used medieval boundaries for enhanced efficiency, etc...
You see this attitude displayed in how the University of Paris is in a never ending state of reorganizing, rebranding, dividing, reuniting again, etc... Whatever the fuck "La Sorbonne" actually is seemingly varies by decade lol.
Latin *is* still offered in the French national curriculum (standardized nationwide) and there's still students taking it, but in general the culture of the country doesn't place the same value on it anymore, people want to speak to the Spanish and to the Germans when they travel to those countries and interact with them via shared cultural beacons like Football, Erasmus exchanges, etc.
>>
>>18626168
It doesn’t get easier than latin
>>

Short answer: Hapsburgs.
