So I'm pretty well versed in European history during like 'The Middle Ages'
What was East Asia like during those times?
500CE-1500CE

Anon, all those different countries had different shit going on throughout that time, you can't just put European timelines (fall of rome to early modernity) on an entirely different continent and expect a coherent answer.

Hi anon, the above:
>>18627714

Is essentially correct but here's a archived thread of resources you can pick apart if you're still interested, I'm a Bamar/Burman anon so that's mostly what I know about so that's what the thread happens to comprise of(for now), archived it just in case:

Feel free to ask questions! I can probably source references and such even if I don't 100% know.

How long until your country collapses into ethnic shitflinging and why can't they just unify around religion like Afghanistan did?

O.o

Well hard to say, wasn't expecting to answer smth like this in a thread like this.

I guess just for foundational context there's about like a bunch of EAOs, there's even Communists ones, the majority and biggest bad-guy is the "Tatmadaw". But I recently paramilitaries have ended up forming that are Tatmadaw-aligned, keyword being counter-revolutionaries. Plus not the mention the branches of the 969 movement and the Buddhist Fascism wrecking havoc in a lot of places.

At this point it could go both sides. Maybe the democracy forces-somehow due to sheer opposition towards the Tatmadaw even if it takes long.

But the way western media frames Burma gets closer and closer to a caricature. You're either gonna end up with a Bamar-dominated democratic government, or a Bamar-dominated Fascist government, there's really no-inbetween.

Also I will say, your question sounds like a way of finding ground between Islam and Theravada Buddhism? The Tatmadaw commited the rohingya genocide, Burma itself had Fascist regimes spanning the 1930s that were anti-Muslim, anti-British and racial supremacist, so I doubt this is happening anytime soon, but I appreciate the effort.
