If Christianity is real, then the Old Testament only really makes sense if the god of Israel was just an "angel" or lesser god serving the God of the New Testament.
JHWH consistently behaves like a deity from a pantheon battling other lesser gods, not like the universal deity / logos of Greek philosophy that Christians identify with uppercase "God".

Serious answer. Jews are none other than Canaanites who have decided Yahweh (who they have apparently adopted from somewhere, perhaps Midian - there is no Yahweh in e.g. the Ugaritic Texts or Punic religion) is the only god they would worship. Yahweh absorbed aspects from other gods as part of this radical reapportioning of emphasis, and was ultimately syncretised with Elohim, the demiurge.

See the Dead Sea Scrolls recension of Deuteronomy 32:8-9 for a classic example of the prior conception where YHWH is a subordinate. Later manuscripts have emended the text to have Elyon=YHWH apportion the nations according to the number of the "Sons of Israel". For Jews the Masoretic Text is Law. Christians somewhat less Jewish will try to defend the identity of Elyon=YHWH in the lectio difficilior, but the problem is it either calls YHWH a "Ben Elohim", which Christians usually prefer to gloss as "angel", or it has God partition the nations according to the number of "angels", but they are given to that many angels, save one for YHWH himself, so N+1 pigeons for N pigeonholes.
