There were around 30 men in Jackon's staff. It was dark. The lines were a mess at Chancellorsville because Jackon took his entire corps on a flanking route and they enveloped a much larger union army. As tragic as it was, sentries were ordered to shoot at them by a Major who was convinced they were Union cavalry despite them calling out. It was simply a mistake. Retards want to blame the uniforms or the flag ect... but it's just the chaos of the war. The Major who gave the order was actually later promoted and fought out the entire war with honors and died with remorse later in life. War is ugly and friendly fire happens. It's like the movie "born on the fourth of july" where the main character just tragically kills a friendly in confusion of the heat of the battle. It fucks with him the rest of his life.
