My story with christianity is growing up raised a christian but treated awfully by my parents, which entirely suppressed my entire social development and personality.
Then joining a church bible reading group at 11 and hearing all about how special they are and how enlightened we are for knowing god vs people who don't, and we're nothing like the normies basically. Jesus Christ is The Lord God in the flesh. He came to Earth in human form, willingly died on the cross as a sinless sacrifice for all the sins of the whole world to save you from eternal hell, the punishment for your sins. Rom. 14:17 is a definitive verse on the Kingdom of God. It is not a physical kingdom made up of things you can put in your body. Paul’s authority is biblically grounded in a divine calling from Jesus (Acts 9:15), appointed by Jesus (Gal. 1:1). He claimed to be an apostle (Rom. 1:1). His message was the same as the other apostles (Gal. 2:7-9). He had apostolic miracles consistent with Jesus giving authority to the apostles in Matthew 10 (2 Cor. 12:12). Under the Law (OT), salvation is by works and faith. His faith in what God has told him to do, his PERSONAL faith in his own works (Habbakuk 2:4). For example, God told Noah to build an ark. Noah believed if he did what God told him to do that God would save him. In Hebrews 11, every one in that chapter adds works to his faith.

New Testament faith, though, is in Someone who does the work for you. It is not merely your faith. It is "the faith of God" (Rom. 3:3), the "faith of Jesus Christ" (Rom 3:22; Gal. 2:16), (Gal. 2:20) etc. It is the faith which God and His Son give to you so that you will believe the work which He did for you. Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Faith itself, the ability to believe on Jesus Christ for salvation, is a gift from God, not your own work.

Don't only take verses from the Bible that align with your feelings because you don't want to accept what the Bible really says. If the Bible is wrong, and salvation is about your works and your faith, then that means that the meaning of your life is all about yourself, and not God. Think about that. You can't pick and choose a gospel from the Bible and choose which one you go by. Any man in any dispensation is saved by doing what God tells him to do – John 5v24, Acts 16v30+31, Acts 8v37, Gen 15v1-6, Gen 6v14 etc. God tells men different things, on different occasions. The Lord Jesus Christ initially came only to Israel – Mat 15v24, but knowing all that would happen, He came to save Gentiles also – Luke 2v25-32.

Galatians 3:24 clearly implies that Jesus replaces the law. In Judaism whatever was contrary to the written code was sin. In the New Testament whatever is contrary to Jesus and his principles is sin (1 Cor. 6:13-15). In the New Testament, Christ and His gospel are the standard by which all behavior is measured. The timeless ethical principles in the law of Moses live on in Christ which is referred to at times in scripture as the law of Christ (1 Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2).

If Jesus Christ has completely fulfilled the righteousness of the Law (and He has, see Rom 10:4), then what God offers an unsaved man is the righteousness of a perfect man. Any excuse an unsaved man gives for passing up the only way to Heaven (John 14:6) is a proclamation to God that he can be better than Jesus Christ.

"Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." So a believer gets all the righteousness that was in the Law through Jesus Christ, because He kept the Law completely. But notice that the verse says, "Christ is THE END of the law." When Jesus Christ died on the cross and made the blood atonement for sin, that ended the time of the Old Testament when righteousness was attributed to a man according to how he kept the Law.
In Rom 10:5 and 6, Paul contrasts "the righteousness which is of the law" and "the righteousness which is of faith." The righteousness of the Law, in the Old Testament, was given to a man who did those things written in the Law and lived by them. If he sinned, the proper sacrifices had to be made for him to keep his righteousness. That is the way Old Testament salvation worked because Jesus Christ had not yet come and fulfilled all of the Law and made a permanent sacrifice for sin.

There isn't anything in the Bible that says that if you do bad things you won't be punished for it, you just cannot get saved by trying to keep the law the best you can. A Bible-believing Christian believes that you receive salvation not because of anything you have done, but because of what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross. I was raised similarly and grew up to be an athiest and was for a long time but found the Lord unexpectedly separately from my upbringing, despite everything. This is what I found. According to Hosea, and other texts like Leviticus, 30 silvers is basically the amount a low quality slave is bought for. I’ll say it again this way. A high quality slave is for much more. But this is talking about a broken or even wounded or sick slave. So Jesus was bought with contempt. The Jews basically decided Jesus was worth at least some payment to be disposed of because Judas wanted blood money for his betrayal. But they did pay it with contempt for the price of a slave that would be bought that had been gored by an ox, or hurt. This was also the same price Hosea bought Gomer with out of slavery once she got old and nobody wanted her anymore. He paid exactly 15 shekels of silver, + a homer of barley and a half homer of barley. That would sum up to much more over 30 , to more like 15 + 75 + half of 75 = 127.5 shekels of silver if one homer of barley is 75 silver.
So Jesus Christ was basically like Gomer, having traded places, going into slavery for us, and he was also the one like Hosea who bought himself out of slavery, except it is that he went into hell for us and bought us out of hell with the price paid by his own shedding of blood on the cross.
If people say that God doesn’t exist, then they are also saying there is no point to love anyone else because that doesn’t exist either unless you just believe it. God does exist and he loves you even though you were condemned to burn in hell and he died for you on the cross for your sins. All of the time, I see some people asked if they would accept Jesus Christ as their savior (share the gospel), and I see people react in anger “do not ask me that, I go to a church!” It is usually a Roman Catholic. This was back before internet and our city still had only mostly white people (because it’s mostly gone now). So you can see that it is supposed to be your moment to shine. Jesus was asking people all the time who do you think he is? So you can see he loved to ask others their opinion of his state of being. We should feel the same way as saved. Wanting to know (from people following us of course… don’t go to long nosed people with bags of money and ask if they think highly of you), from others what they think of us.
