In polytheism, a chief god leads a large family or council of minor deities. The chief god holds supreme power or authority, while minor gods manage specific parts of nature, human life, or daily tasks. People pray to the chief god for big issues and to minor gods for local needs.

THE CHIEF GOD

>Supreme Ruler: Acts as the king or queen of the divine world.

>Core Powers: Controls the sky, fate, order, or the universe itself.

>Final Authority: Settles arguments among other gods.

>Examples: Zeus in Greek myths, Odin in Norse myths, or Ra in Egyptian myths.

MINOR DEITIES

>Specialized Roles: Each god rules one narrow area like love, war, the harvest, or a local river.

>Direct Access: People pray to them for fast help with daily life and personal needs.

>Subordinate Status: They obey the chief god and can be punished if they break divine rules.

>Examples: Aphrodite for love, Hermes for travel, or local spirits of the woods.

HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER

>Family or Council: Gods form a large community with ranks, duties, and frequent arguments.

>Delegation: The chief god assigns jobs to minor gods to keep the world running smoothly.

>Worship Balance: Priests hold big festivals for the chief god and small shrines and feast days for local minor gods.

Catholicism resembles the religions of Canaan or Egypt or Greece or Rome way more than the religion of Moses. Their practices are indistinguishable. They don't worship the God of Abraham alone like he commanded, they serve a pantheon of gods that they call The Saints. There are other pagan polytheistic religions like the Yoruba religion where the gods are also called The Saints. The name Santeria literally means The Way of The Saints.

Woah, dude. We’re talking about Roman Catholic Church. They have violated the entire Bible, beginning to ending. Polytheism is just one of the major components of their violation of the Word of God. I’m glad you noticed , somebody around here at least noticed one thing. Which opens a massive door into omagerd they totally have all these saints they pray to!
I’ve already begun asking God in my prayers to use Eros, and Cupid and the saints for marriage, love, hard causes, etc. to help my Roman Catholic wife be moved by her pagan beliefs to marry me like we promised. And already been receiving positive results. Not because I prayed to the saints and olympians, but because I prayed to God in Jesus’ name to use those gods and saints. You can do that for people lost. Including asking for a standard of truth for that lost people and family and their beliefs. I have been praying my entire life for my wife of my youth. The Bible says you have a covenant of your wife of your youth, as well as a covenant of the fountain of your wife’s youth. If you don’t actually have one then God has one planned for you by faith. Anyway,
Your picture actually helps me by reminding me even biblical saints like John the Baptist, or other actual canonically non Roman Catholic saints who just simply went around sharing the gospel in Ireland who they then claimed was theirs and sent by the pope himself but was not, he was just a boy who remembered who Jesus was and how to share him with others. To the list! Course I don’t need this, instead I thanked God for His “exceedingly doing abundantly more than I can ever ask or think,” and for His exceedingly Great Promises found in His Word. In fact Jesus is the only answer. He connects to Adam and Eve, and the I AM THAT I AM God, and how He created Adam and Eve for each other. Knit as one soul in the Word. And that is how I am knit as one soul with my wife. She has the same name as me and we are actually unrelated twins.

You explain to them that they, like other Christians, can come up with as many harebrained intellectualisms that they want, but trinitarianism is still polytheism unlike that true monotheism of Islam. Also, Allah doesn't bang humans. That's so pagan.
>>
>>18652579
Adam was God’s son. Trinity was th Creation of Man from God creating the universe. You are a coping brown Muslim, and need to get out of the thread because it was asked how it can resemble the God of Moses, which is Christianity. Not Catholicism. Be bruised in your head, serpent. Slither quieter next time.

Jesus Christ did take a portion of a nazarite vow. At the last supper, he said he would not eat of the fruit of the vine until he tastes it new in his Father’s kingdom.
He didn’t explicitly state it as nazarite, but the fact that Jesus was born in Nazareth means it has Spiritual Law that it means he is in fact spiritually a nazarite. It has to, because of spiritual laws of God. Nazareth is a location and Nazarite is a consecration vow. So it only matters if a Jew took that vow at one point. Jesus never had to. In fact his parents asked him to make wine for the wedding and praised him for it. (Samson brought dishonor to his parents by not telling them he touched dead bodies and had a wedding where he probably drank wine and was also upsetting his guests). So he was honoring his legal parents. It was God who said Jesus Christ is the Son of God. In His own Word from Moses. Continued on from that point on, and even the legal lineage. Allah can do anything, including make the son of God be born of a virgin woman like a surrogacy, but by miracle birth. If you don’t believe in God, like Mohammed who burns in hell here, with all of those who reject Jesus Christ is the only son of God, and those who reject the true church of God is by grace through faith in Jesu Christ and his Word, the kjv bible, the gospel primarily, that his shedding of blood for your sins is the only way you can go to heaven by admitting you are going to hell for your sins, and need him and accepted him as your savior, or that I was right btw that Jesus Christ is higher than a nazarite and therefore also kept the vows of one by resurrection of the dead and only by vowing at certain points, and the fact that he grew out of the Jews who were nazarites (John the Baptist, Samuel). Meaning yes, it is entirely kept though Jesus Christ’s life and I can simply believe that in faith.

There is no real difference between worship and veneration. If Catholics want to prove they don’t worship Mary, then they should ignore her entirely
>>
>>18652886
Catholic Canonization is the same thing as Pagan Deification. They take a human who died and elevate them to a deity status and attribute to them powers and abilities and causes and make them venerable/worshippable.

It's no different than the Apotheosis of George Washington for example. They're in the business of making gods. They're Idol traffickers.
>>
>>18652539
You're weird.
>>
>>18652426
The Bible that they use is at odds with those practices, yet they still persist.
>>
>>18652886
You only think this because you don't actually worship God, and have no idea how St Augustine differentiates between adoration and veneration in Contra Faustum Book XX.

He's far from the only church father with this understanding either, you're just too lazy and illiterate to know about them.

>St Augustine differentiates between adoration and veneration
the cope is really ancient.
>>
>>18652426
It's actually closer to biblical worship. After all Yahwe was a war god in the Canaanite pantheon before a splinter group decided to make him their patron deity and as the centuries went on he morphed from a patron deity to one ofshoot tribe to their singular god. They still believed other gods were real, but worshipped only Yahwe. Give it a few more centuries and they gradually changed from henotheism to monotheism.
>>
>>18652426
>Each god rules one narrow area like love, war, the harvest, or a local river.
Saints don't work like this. Saints ask God for favors in areas that are specifically close to their hearts.
>>
>>18652426
To be fair, Catholicism never really syncretized with other polytheisms, which you would expect from a polytheistic religion. Polytheistic religions take gods from each other and merge them with their own deities, or add them to the pantheon as new gods. Catholicism didn't do that with saints (exceptions include a few local cults pushed by small communities, often not approved by Rome), no saints can be identified with major pagan gods. All catholic saints have been original figures from Christian lore, new folkloric figures, or real people, no repurposed Apollo or Odin. Saints genuenily seem to be an original Christian idea rather than a pagan influence.

For me it's St. George, St. Francis, and of course St. John Chrysostom. He had a way with words.

>Saints ask God for favors in areas that are specifically close to their hearts.
Since when? Enoch and Elijah ascended to heaven without ever dying and no ancient Hebrew man or prophet ever invoke their names in prayer to ask them for help or intercession. No statue was ever made in their honor or painting made of them. No Basilica or temple was built with their names. Even when the the bones of Elisha revived a dead man, no one pulled them out of his grave to venerate it or cut it's head off an put it inside a statue or tired reviving more dead people with them. They let his body rest in peace.
>>
>>18653951
Since we started asking them.
>no ancient Hebrew man or prophet ever invoke their names in prayer
In 2 Maccabees 15:11-16 it says “the prophet of God, Jeremiah,” and that this prophet “fervently prays for the people and the holy city.” You might argue the intercession was not explicitly requested, but to be fair, my claim was "Saints ask God for favors"
>>
>>18653966
Did anyone prayed to Jeremiah? Did anyone ask Jeremiah for favors after he died? Did David ever said, Oh Moses help me find my lost keys?
>>
>>18653975
>>>You might argue the intercession was not explicitly requested, but to be fair, my claim was "Saints ask God for favors"
>>
>>18653980
>for favors"
... In areas specifically close to their hearts.

You're claiming each saint specializes in a specific subject and God grants them favors in that area when people ask them to.

Like they were gods in a pantheon or something. That has never been the way the servants of God work and God does not change, he doesn't suddenly develop new practices of service. His priesthood was established ages before the world was made.

Jeremiah prayed for Israel as every prophet did. He didn't specialize in it as some special ability, he just loved his people.
>>
>>18653989
>each saint specializes
>special ability
I didn't claim an ability. I claimed some things are close to their hearts. Jeremiah prayed for the holy city in particular. Why saints would become blank slates after their death and disregard the exact areas and stories in which they participated in God's will, I don't know.

>Like they were gods in a pantheon or something.
If all you understand from polytheism is that they're in heaven and they have focus areas, then yes. Angels, saints, GPS satellites and arguably even ozone holes are like gods.
>>
>>18652426
Catholics changed the holy day of rest from Saturday to Sunday.

Please understand that your practices and religious views match 0% the way God established through Moses about how we must worship him. The practices you follow are the exact practices of the nations God warned not to imitate.

You do not understand the concept of EL KANNA. The total and complete devotion to the Almighty God and him alone. You require to call upon no other Name but his.

Hebrews were aware of the legends that Enoch stands before God's face forever yet it was never a practice to call upon Enoch's name to ask him for favors in any area. They called upon the Name and the Name alone, and God himself decide which angel or saint to send to your assistance because they are his servants, not yours.

Daniel prayed to God and God sent Gabriel to assist him. If Daniel had prayed to Gabriel then Gabriel wouldn't have come because he only goes where God sends him and you did not call upon God alone.

If you built shrines and idols for Gabriel and call upon Gabriel every day God will cut you off and then a deceiving spirit is allowed appear to you instead pretending to be Gabriel and lead you astray.
>>
>>18654011
>You require to call upon no other Name but his.
People requesting prayer from other people is Biblical. You don't seem to have a problem with requests, even if it's put into this over-dramatized "sceal not call upon thy name" lingo. Your problem is that the departed are taboo.
>>
>>18654018
You request a prayer from a friend or family or local priest or someone who is on earth. You don't invoke names of heavenly beings who you've never known to ask for prayers.
>>
>>18654031
You just proved my point. Thou sceal not name a countenance lest thy Lord it be woo woo rhetoric falls flat because at the end of the day your actual claim is "intercession is just fine, but the departed are off limits". Where does Moses say that?
>>
>>18654034
What you do is way beyond intercession. You have a whole system of names you invoke for specific tasks and purposes. If you're sick from this you call this name, if you're sick from this other thing then you call on this other name, if you need help with X problem you call on X name, if you're a soldier or athlete the you rely on Y name. If you're a mother or grandmother then you must call on this saint, if you are a lawyer or a doctor then call upon that other staint. Etc. There are thousand and thousands of names to invoke for each specific problem or cause.

You even do a Confirmation Sacrament where a priest binds a spirit of a saint to you and it becomes your own personal mini god the rest of your life. You never call upon God when you're in need but rely on this saint for everything, this is adultery.

When did Moses ever teach or practice this? Or even Jesus or Paul? When did they teach this?
>>
>>18654044
>If you're sick from this you call this name, if you're sick from this other thing then you call on this other name
A perfect example of something completely usual in Earthly life, made controversial in your mind just because the departed are involved.
>Or even Jesus or Paul?
Paul requests prayers from people and Jesus said the God is the God of the living. You're looking for 4 but I can only provide 2+2.
>>
>>18654046
My grandmother was a Catholic, I've been to Catholic church, my elementary school was a Catholic school and I did my First Communion in it in 3rd grade. This is not uncommon in Catholicism.

Every time you have a certain problem a devout Catholic will recommend you pray to X saint or add X saints sticker or figurines to your car in put them in your house or to light a candle to them.

Every Catholic has their own patron saint. Cities have their own patron saint, countries have their own patron saints. Families have their own patron saint. And they celebrate them and worship them each in their specific feast day.

This is comon paganism practiced by every polytheistic religion inn history.

The way the true religion of God was set apart from the rest was by worshipping the Name of The Creator alone the way he commanded and relying on him for absolutely every single thing. Like a devout wife would her loving husband.

>Paul requests prayers from people and Jesus said the God is the God of the living.

Paul ever call upon Stephen or John the Baptist for intercession?
>>
>>18654060
>This is comon paganism practiced by every polytheistic religion inn history.
Not even close. But it IS very similar to European paganism in particular. I honestly feel just as weird about cities having patron saints (unless he has actually lived there), so I won't fight you on this one.
>Paul ever call upon Stephen or John the Baptist for intercession?
No idea. But he did request intercession from people. Do you need a verse?

Yahwe was a part of the Canaanite pantheon and had religious rites performed typical of one god amongst many. After centuries of theological development his worshippers became monotheists and created the rites and ritual of Yahwe as a singular god. Religious ritual constantly change and aren't set in stone.

So you have an argument? Or just going to shout you won, put on sunglasses, and glory in your flesh and carnality of the world and prove God is in me and not you? You’re carnal, worldly, and sinful and yet your sins aren’t forgiven! Mine are, because they are solely based on Jesus Christ and His Word.
>>18653941
I’m white and the inquisition proves me right, since you had to kill people to make people convert to Roman Catholicism.
I bet you aren’t even Roman Catholic though, you are just someone who doesn’t believe anything! To that I say, God still created your soul and body and spirit. He will eternally be your Creator whether you reject and hate him or not!

>>18652886
Yes to statement 1.
Hesitation to statement 2. They should return to the Word of God only. Anything they say about Mary should be read or preached directly from a KJV Bible, no apocrypha to prove they are Christian.
>>
>>18653875
“Saints don’t work like this, they were more realistic because they are based on real people.”
Okay, and? It’s still the same thing, just more based on that person.
But they actually pray TO the saint, not to God through Jesus Christ first which is the only way to invoke the fullness of the Godhead. If you are doing ANYTHING less than that, then you are falling short of the glory of God / the fullness of the Godhead and that means it won’t reach heaven. The Word of God says so. If you still decided to cross God’s Word on that, then you are denying Jesus Christ is the only son of God and his blood. And the cross is of no effect to you anymore. Do you need the scriptures quoted to show you? To someone who actually cares, they would look it up and see the truth for their self.
What I said to the Op was that you can invoke the fullness of the Godhead, and then use the heathen as your own inheritance. As well as other saints. Even biblical people from the Bible. If an idea they bestowed is something that you also desire, but there is no reason to do that unless you specifically have a specific request related to that person. You can even go beyond Catholic saints and pray to God through Jesus Christ to use the Olympians. That’s something people are mad at suddenly itt with my truth nuke.

Psalm 79:1 (KJV)"O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps."
Psalm 2:8 (KJV)"Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession."

It doesn’t just mean that the olympians, Chinese gods pantheon, Egyptian pantheon, Norse pantheon etc already entered into Jerusalem temple and defiled it, it means I also inherited them for sake of my own examples to God and needs, because God is a jealous God and He wants to make sure I am not praying to anyone else. Including saints.
>>
>>18655191
Why would I hate God? I am Roman Catholic, I have no reason to lie about my religion.
>>
>>18654060
You have a very weak grasp on what paganism or polytheism are exactly and you seem to conflate them with one another.
>>
>>18655210
You ask the saint to intercede on your behalf.
>>
>>18655416
Claiming to serve the Almighty God while also having a side god is unfaithfulness to the Almighty God and polytheism.
