No. Genesis 3 is part of the J narrative, which includes genesis 2 as well but not the first chapter. The serpent was one of the many intelligent animals that God presented Adam with in order to find him a "suitable companion".

It’s about accepting that He did it for you so you don’t have to. It’s also about protecting yourself from Satan because he is still loose trying to mimic and deceive.

It's not related to the serpent in the garden, it's because the Hebrews were made sick by snakes in the desert, analogous to humanity as a whole being made sick by their sins, which Jesus took on for us, in our place.
