Obviously the idea that Hitler "didn't know" about the Holocaust is ridiculous, but time and time again it comes up that Hitler was just not as urgent in going after jews as the party hardliners were. Pre-Kristallnacht Nazi rule in particular was marked with Hitler repeatedly being accused within the party of being too soft on jews.
