When and why did Halloween become a staple holiday in the US? I don't hear about any Halloween celebration prior to the boomer generation.
It's the same consumerist garbage plot by corporations that made Valentine's Day a thing.
Shit ton of kids after WWII, Halloween is a child-centric holiday. As most things in America, it became a staple because of advertisements and capitalism. Trick-or-treating was also not part of the original holiday. It's just goth Christmas.
