How did Mao Zedong win the Chinese Civil War?
>>
The KMT was depleted doing most of the heavy lifting against the Japanese, and the KMT was also quite incompetent and unpopular despite their victory against the Japanese.
>>
1. do nothing
2. win

Unbelievably bad tactics from Chiang Kai-shek mixed with extreme corruption in the military. We sent them billions and they wasted all of it.

Nonestarter. Americans back then weren’t yet psyoped into becoming slaves to foreign powers

>The KMT was depleted doing most of the heavy lifting against the Japanese
The KMT had the most experienced soldiers and US industrial backing.
Losing to a bunch of untrained commies with shitty soviet weapons is just beyond incompetent.
>>
>>18657238
They didn’t really beat Japan though, America finished the war for them.
>>
>>18657338
The commies did have industrialized Machukuo + they had a lot of Nationalist soldiers defect.
>>
Mao Tse-Tung thought mobilized the peasantry of China to fight for freedom! Instead of abuse, Mao’s troops respected the land and peasantry through the three rules of discipline and eight points for attention!

Do not overestimate mao. He was no superhero. China already was in tension and conflict because they did not know what to do after they stopped being a dynasty. Two groups were already fighting and he was just elected as the face of the winning group lol.

They occupied it immediately at the start of the war, but KMT forces had evicted CCP forces from every city in manchuria within the first month of fighting, so they didn't really get benefit from manchuria as an industrial base until late in the war. But by that point KMT corruption and incompetence had utterly cratered China's industrial capacity anyway, as during the process of "repatriating the property of japanese collaborators" officials were supposed to take control of factories owned by collaborators until the original or more suitable owners could be found. In Manchuria most of these were just sold off for spare parts and the officials pocketed the money.

The KMT shouldered the patriotic duty of fighting Japan while he was busy stabbing them behind their backs and doing everything in his power to ignore the treaty and promise of attacking the Japs.
Mao would personally thank the Japs years later.
Well, it isnt all bad though. Taiwan is nice first world country while mainland China is a shithole full of backward savages so I'd say Chiang got the last laugh.

It's funny how you're so insecure you couldn't just post whatever you're talking about and instead resorted to a greentext vaguely alluding to it

Ok, well it was a very major event of GMD treachery that caused the collapse of the second united front, so I would assume anyone claiming Mao was stabbing the GMD behind their backs would be aware of it.

During the 2nd united front the GMD and CCP still maintained the veneer of a working relationship to defeat japan despite clear signs of strain from the start. The new fourth army incident ended this. The NFA was largely a guerrilla force that had followed the Japanese advance far south of the yellow river, away from the CCP's northern strongholds. Although they were both ostensibly fighting the Japanese, skirmishes between the NFA and nationalist forces were common, though casualties were usually light. Both sides were guilty of instigating them. However in the fall of 1940 a Nationalist General was killed in one of these engagements, deepening tensions. The NFA was ordered to relocate north of Yangtze, which all but the headquarters detachment did. This detachment was mostly made up of non-combatants as it included hospitals and training facilities. It could not as easily be relocated as guerrilla fighters. Facing a deadline to move or be declared enemy combatants, the headquarters was ordered by its GMD superiors to follow an evacuation route that would have led them right into a Japanese stronghold. Diverting from
the planned route, the communists found themselves encircled and attacked by nationalists, their supposed allies. The NFA forces were easily crushed, with thousands killed. This alone was shocking enough, but several thousand non-combatants were captured and treated barbarically by nationalist troops. The CCP had long had an interest in gender equality, so large numbers of women were in its administration. Those captured were raped en masse by nationalist soldiers. Many prisoners were
savagely beaten and some buried alive. Of the 9000 person headquarters detachment, only 300 survived the battle and brutal treatment by their captors.

Go look up Operation Beleaguer.

>>18657338
>with shitty soviet weapons
They had whatever they had accumulated from defecting Nationalists and Japanese leftovers. It wasn't until Korea that they were getting Soviet materiel. This is in stark contrast to how much the US was supplying.

>>18657345
>The commies did have industrialized Machukuo
The Nationalists started off with the important industrial bases of the northeast like Shenyang. But every factory in Manchukuo got stripped for parts by the Soviets. Neither side could really use them to their advantage.

>>
>>18657345
>The commies did have industrialized Machukuo
No, they besieged KMT controlled cities in that area for years. Also, the Soviets stripped out everything that wasn't bolted down when they invaded in 1945.
>>
>>18657777
Why can't others replicate this success?

>>18657229
By not siding with reactionaries who wanted to keep China feudal and instead with everyone with an interest in overthrowing the society that made them weak
Siding with the (situationally) weak looks retarded, but those are also the most motivated
Building a power base of foreigners and rich is actually a recipe for weak support because there are fewer of them, in the era of the gun, which needs folk to swing lead

>>18657269
Ie he was paying off unmotivated people who were already stealmaxxing the poor, whereas Mao just offered to give people stuff which was life changing even if tiny
>>
>>18657269
>we
You weren't there, buddy
>>
>>18657319
Considering Mao ended up betraying the USSR and aligning with USA. What would be the point? If Chiang won, he could betray USA just as easily as Mao betrays USSR.
>>
>>18657229
a combination of Mao being extremely talented at peoples warfare (there is a reason every guerilla movement to this day uses his tactics) along with the KMT making easy as shit for his forces to recruit from the average chink due to how inept they were at ruling
>>
>>18660711
I think he means Americans as a whole.
>>
>>18660783
Chiang would never. His wife was educated in the US.
