But as much as I like Germany, by themselves they have not archieved much that will outlast their legacy, not since the High Middle Ages. They had their chance in WW1 to become the next Rome and blew it, and since 1970, history shifted towards countries outside Europe. Sucks for them, but at least they dragged down France and Britain with them.
The British people are ironically the protagonists and history revolves around them, including their descendants in America. You can’t touch on any topic in history without mentioning Albion.

France had the French revolution which impacted the world. Same with Britain for starting the industrial revolution. Germany is only an important supporting role. They were never a primary mover.

Yeah, the Industrial revolution might be more consequential than the Reformation as a singular event, but i would still give Germany the edge over Britain overall. I would say, Germany produced more great philosophers, scientists, artists, inventors ... than Britain (Britain has the edge in literature). A lot of modern Western thinking can be traced back to Germany. Germany is also the birth place of the modern university. Aditionally, Germany was the center of European politics for 300 years (even more, if we include Charlemagne). You later had Austria and Prussia as European Great Powers, and also German Dynasties ruling other European Empires. Britain obviously comes close, but i think, the German record is even greater.
