Christians simply can't cope with the thought that not everyone believes in God. It's like an OCD thing.

Religion must be defined in negative terms by the logical/rational mind. As it is divested of all rationality. You are allowing others to interpret for you. Institutionalized Religion is superstitious dread. It's ignorant, a literal dubious spiritual value. And thus, it should be criticized.
It is an illusion to believe that religion can simultaneously accommodate personal interpretations of truth and it's institutionalized version, because the two are inherently in tension. Institutions thrive on codifying belief, creating rigid frameworks that demand adherence to collective norms for the sake of unity and stability. Personal interpretation, however, is fluid, subjective, and often challenges the boundaries set by dogma. To hold both as valid is to ignore the inherent conflict between the freedom of individual thought and the constraints of institutional authority.
Institutions are designed to preserve their version of truth, which is static and universal in its claims, while individual interpretations are dynamic and personal. Religion often promises room for spiritual exploration, yet the moment one’s interpretation diverges too far from the institution's doctrine, it risks being deemed heretical. This paradox reveals the fallacy: institutions depend on conformity to maintain their power, and allowing complete freedom of interpretation would ultimately undermine their authority.
Thus, the coexistence of personal truth and institutionalized religion is not harmony but a fragile compromise. One that inevitably leans toward control rather than liberation. To entertain conflicting ideals creates stagnation. Stagnation breeds apathy. And apathy is not just death, apathy is a fate worse than death. Because the individual refuses to actualize and see any form of beauty or transformation, since they are too busy being stuck.

Neither can atheists cope with the fact that theists exist, just look at all the proseletyzing (you) do on this board

How about we both agree that the other side is dumb and will never listen to clear reason

Laughing at retards in an online human zoo isn't proselytizing.

Hitchens claimed that as society became more secular it would become more enlightened and peaceful; as we can clearly see, this did not happen and instead it really did descend into chaos like the thiests said it would. Hitchens was wrong about the effects of lack of religion on society just like he was wrong about destabilizing the Middle-East being a good idea.
One of the only things he was correct about was pre-empting what progressivism would turn into but for some reason couldn't figure out that secularizing society would allow this to happen.

Hitchen's psycho-social explanations for religious belief like what OP is saying are also incorrect and informed by ignorance of what many religious people are actually like and why they believe, just like how he was ignorant of actual history and his books likewise were filled with unchecked errors.

I’ll post this here since when I made a whole thread about it it got no replies

Theism is a gauge choice. The same complete history of events can be described in different metaphysical languages without changing the events themselves.

One may describe the causal unfolding entirely in terms of nature, matter, institutions, psychology, contingency, and human action. Or one may describe that identical unfolding as a single divine act appearing through those very causes. Nothing observable needs to be added, removed, or rearranged.

That is the analogy to gauge freedom in physics: changing the description does not change the trajectory.

So logic cannot rule theism out merely by giving a complete natural or historical explanation. “We can explain what happened without mentioning God” establishes only that God is unnecessary as an additional cause alongside the others. It does not establish that the whole causal actuality cannot itself be understood theistically.

The real disagreement therefore lies less over what happened than over what the happening ultimately is.

yeah because if the shoe was on the other foot we could just make sure that those that don't wouldn't have the same legal protection.

Man is man-made. And if there is no God, than it would be necessary for Man to invent him.
Otherwise, how do you control the masses?

This is what is known as "projection". You have a massive tumor in your brain which makes you writhe in agony whenever someone professes faith in the LORD. Being an autistic gaytheist, you also have serious theory of mind issues, which means that you assume that believers feel the same way about your disbelief. However, we actually just don't really care about you. At most, we think you're pathetic. Enjoy Hell.

And yet you care enough to threaten his death, by wishing him well in your supposed afterlife. Call-To-Action behavior and veiled threat(s), masking as a niceity. Enjoy violating United States Law.
