I come from a Third World country where I've seen men on numerous occasions say that they wanted to kill children as young as seven simply because their mother was attractive, and that they wished they could kill her children so they could have children of their own with her, more or less like animals such as lions do. They absolutely were not. Although bride kidnapping was practiced, there were certain rules that they could not break without facing severe punishment. If word got out that a certain tribe broke an unwritten rule of the Yahsa (their traditional code), they could well be exterminated like what happened to the Tatar tribe that poisoned Genghis' father and other examples. There was a baseline of humanity that most Mongols adhered to and some understanding/solidarity among tribes despite all the endless feuds, but what matters is also how they viewed non-Mongols especially after the expansion.
