How did losing the mandate of heaven not lead to the downfall of communist china?

Just wait a bit

I had a bizarre experience. We had a Chinese immigrant who worked in our department at my company. We have the sorta cringe weekly teambuilding session where we all answer a question someone draws from a teambuilding deck. One we got was something like "If you could have any historical figure join your department, who would it be?" and she unironically said Chairman Mao and praised how great he was.

True story.

>between 15 and 55 million deaths
That number looks made up, did this even happen?

This. I’m not a communist sympathizer, and I believe people probably starved to death, but 15 to 55 million is a huge spread.

the high estimations of "deaths" from the Great Leap Forward all come from a single guy who took the original highest estimations and then inflated them by 50% by counting imaginary unconceived children

The mandate of heaven is a political concept from imperial china, it has no relevance to modern china. That's like saying the president of france has lost the divine right of kingship.

If your margin of error is 40 million people then you might as well just say "we think some huge number of people died" and it wouldn't be less accurate.

Redpill me on this
>>

Same way you get the
>provincial rebellion, China, 5 million die
>man stubs his toe, China, 3 million die
>man farts, China, 8 million die
Memes
>>

modern academia is flawed but it's good that idiots like you are far away from it
>>
Aren't the Chinese supposed to be high iq?

How did they let the Great Famine happen?
