Would it be better to endure eternal conscious torment than to have your entire existence cease? Yes, an eternal Hell will be, well, Hell to experience, but at least you get to keep your very being. Eternal nothingness will lead to, well, nothing. Honestly, to have everything cease sounds way scarier.

Hell is a pagan idea.

I trust the Lord to make righteous judgements, no matter which events come to pass, though personally, as a human being existing in the here and now, at times, I think about these matters, and I seem to have leanings of preferences for the lost souls to have temporarily-experienced Gehenna punishments, rather than ones which extend across time with no limitations. That is to say, I guess I sometimes prefer the Conditional Immortality version of how events may play out, versus Eternal Conscious Torment. Universalism is pretty universally thought of as unorthodox by traditionalist/conservative Christians. I don't want to exactly rule out any possibility for the Lord's plan, so I somewhat reluctantly allow some leeway for those who hold to a more orthodox-adjacent version of Annihilationism coming into effect, such as Conditional Immortality for the elect and an annihilation for the lost, albeit after however long the Lord allows the damned tormenting punishments, yet I would preach as though Eternal Conscious Torment is the default standard belief of what basically happens to those outside of the Church after they are ultimately judged by the Lord. For the current state of the world, lost souls do not immediately go to Gehenna, but to Hades, where they wait until they are finally judged by God at the Great White Throne Judgement. Any fate regarding those outside of the Church is up for the Lord to decide.

We've all experienced non-existence before though: it's the period before you were born. Not existing is fine, if anything existence is all rather exceptional in the grand scheme of things, we have, after all; *not* existed for far longer.

Eternal nothingness is just sleep. It’s hardly the worst thing especially if you had a long and fulfilling life
>>

No. Everyone in Hell would gladly accept annihilation. And their never going to have it. They aren't going to have so much as a night's sleep for eternity.

I am the poster of the post linked below. I believe that people are going to be most likely undergoing punishments for an infinite amount of time, given the oft-told argument that any offenses, even one against the infinitely-righteous God warrant infinitely-consequential punishments, however manifested. Nevertheless, the idea of an infinite duration to the Lake of Fire still massively scares me, in thinking and feeling about the sakes of other people who do not appear to know better than at present. I do think that if Eternal Conscious Torment is in effect, those people will most likely want an out to it all, even if it means that they lose all consciousness through their entire existence. Any single second or even less of Gehenna will be far worse for them than just getting set on fire today feels.

Straightforwardly no. Eternal torment is eternal torment, it never ends. Honestly it's preferable to eternal life, imo.

Nothingness is just nothing.*

What are you suggesting, that you would rather experience a constantly punishing eternal torment over experiencing a joyous, rewarding eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven, with the New Earth and the whole universe in sight?

No. Being tortured for an hour is already unbearable. Now imagine a year. Imaigne 10 years. Imagine a million years. Imagine a time longer than the universe has existed. Imagine trillions of years.

The idea of eternal torture is beyond evil. Not even an evil god would do that to someone.

We finally found the guy that actually enjoys hell

There is no set belief of what hell is exactly. Most takes that people think ate official ones are actually personal opinions of spectral leaders and writers that people took as Canon thought. The idea that hell exists or is a place of eternal physical torment & fire are examples of personal opinions pushed as official thought.

It's not even close. Sleep is a biological process and you are still conscious in a way anon. Being in a coma is a more apt comparison and even that is flimsy. Best can do is come up with approximations or theoretics. Is being an electric ghost undetectable by any modern measuring machine and only able to interact with an never before seen and encountered abstract objects and structures with senses that have no material counterpart "not existing"?

There is no time, once a thing as come to pass it will be eternal.
