Calvinism has the most Biblically accurate take on salvation/damnation.

Ephesians 2:8-9
>For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

This verse confirms whether you're damned/saved is entirely deterministic.

“No boasting” ≠ “every choice was predetermined.”

If you're explicitly not saved by works but rather saved through faith, which is a gift God either gives or doesn't, then yes - salvation/damnation is explicitly deterministic.
>>
If there's any eternal damnation involved, then determinism would imply that God set things up in a way where he wouldn't get what he wants. "This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

The verse doesn’t say refusing the gift is impossible. It just says it’s from God.
>>
>>18662753
You'd still have to first receive the gift to refuse it

Which church however? Is it the Continental or the Presbyterian, Reformed Anglican or the Congregationalist or the Calvinistic Methodist or the Reformed Baptist? Choose wisely, as one brings salvation and others eternal damnation.

I think he's saying the capacity of salvation through faith in jesus is the gift from god, because the next verse says
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
So god has prepared you to do good works and that is the gift from god, but you might still not do it.

According to Calvinism you don't actually have to do anything, God decided when he created the universe if you were going to hell or not.

What's the catch, why would I be a good Christian then?
>>

Calvinists believe worshipping God is your explicit purpose even if his ultimate intention is just to torture you for eternity.
