Today we're taking a look at Alexander III of Macedon, better known as Alexander the Great.

Alexander the Great (7/20/356 BCE - 6/10/323 BCE) was the king of Macedon and ascended to the throne at the young age of 20.

Some notable feats or facts include
>Son of Philip II
>Tutored by Aristotle as a boy
>Created the largest empire in the world at the time, record held until Genghis Khan. Hilariously good military commander. No known major losses.
>Believed himself a deity. Developed megalomania towards the end of his life. Seemed to be good, or at least attempted to be good, at about everything.
>Possibly gay.
>Had a horse named Bucephalus which he named a city after.
>Founded around 20 Alexandrias. Number may have actually been much higher.
>Conquered the Balkans, Thrace, Illyria, Greece, and destroyed Thebes.
>Invaded Persia and conquered Asia Minor. Destroyed the Achaemenid Empire
>Invaded India but had to turn back due to mutiny
>Died in Babylon on the way back under unclear circumstances. Possibly poisoned.
>Death caused the disintegration of the Macedonian Empire and the beginning of the Hellenistic Period.
>Became THE guy to which all Greeks and many others after them would compare themselves to military
>The Alexander Romance was the most popular novel in the world during antiquity, only behind the Bible.

Discuss the the dude who though he was a god.

Also, to the anon who suggested George Mason in the last thread and to other anons as well, I am taking requests for future threads. I do have a list in no particular order, but I'm alright with adding more to it.

The difference is in first hand historical accounts to later historical revision. Most the nobility of the Greeks is also described as Blonde, tall, etc. Nothing about this taints Alexanders image, it is simply operating off of different evidence that "Modern Archeology" often fails to account for.

You also believe Theodora's head detached from her body at night and floated around the streets of Constantinople hissing at people, right?

It's not even from sources written centuries later, it's in a primary source written when she was alive, by a man who met her personally!
After all, there's no such thing as historical revisionism and propaganda to defame important historical figures.

>King Alexander, too, was quite excessively keen on boys: according to Dicaearchus in On the Sacrifice at Troy, he was so taken with the eunuch Bagoas that under the eyes of the whole theater he bent over to give him a kiss, and when the audience shouted and applauded, he very willingly bent over and kissed him again. Charon of Chalcis--so says Carystius in Historical Notes--had a beautiful boy who was devoted to him. Alexander remarked on his beauty during a drinking bout hosted by Craterus. Charon told his boy to give Alexander a kiss. "No!" said the king. "That would pain you more than it would please me."
Athenaeus, Deipnosophistae 13.602
>When Alexander arrived at the palace of Gedrosia, he restored the army with a festival. It is said that he got drunk and watched choral competitions. His eromenos Bagoas won in the dancing and he traversed the theater in his costume and sat down beside him. Seeing this, the Macedonians applauded and shouted out, bidding Alexander kiss him, until he embraced him and kissed him deeply
Plutarch, Alexander 67.8
>Alexander laid a wreath on Achilles' tomb and Hephaestion on Patroclus', hinting that he was Alexander's eromenos, as Patroclus was of Achilles.
Aelian, Varia Historia 12.7
>Euxenippus was still very young and a favourite of Alexander's because he was in the prime of his youth, but though he rivaled Hephaestion in good looks he could not match him in charm, since he was rather effeminate.
Curtius, The History of Alexander 7.9.19
>Alexander ordered the temples of Asclepius to be burned, when his eromenos died.
Epictetus, Discourses 2.22.17
>If you wish to become beautiful and good, throw the rags on your head and come to us. However you will not be able to do it, because you are held by Hephaestion's thighs.

>>18681808
Did Alexander have sex with men? Yeah probably, I'm sure he raped a few slaves too. Was he gay with Hephaestion? No probably not. Was him being gay an important part of his character? No probably not. Was his form of homosexuality even remotely close to something which we could call consensual today? No probably not. Was it exaggerated throughout history by people who were envious/mad/gay? Almost definitely.

Ah, the first /his/ emperor

Anyways, his pre-king life is rather interesting. For example, there are indications that he was rather ready to either usurp Philip or start a civil war, like that time when he tried to arrange a marriage under his father's nose, or when he was gathering troops while he was with his mother after fleeing court due to one of the slights he did against Philip. If Philip had lived longer, I don't think the two would have gotten along very well for much longer.

It can simply mean liking boys in any non sexual way, retard. Like a man that acts too much like a parent when it's a woman's duty to take care of the children while the man is supposed to provide and deal with the administration of the community.

Faggots can only perceive children (and everything else for that matter) through a sexual lens. They're essentially molestation-induced sex addicts.
It's like trying to explain the various useful qualities of alcohol to an alcoholic. All he thinks about is how long until he gets to drink it.
>>
>>18683928
>>18683951
Why would the phrase “excessively keen on boys” in a parental sense precede a passage about kissing a eunuch? And why would it be included in a section of a Greek book discussing homosexuality? And why do the other passages refer to Alexander having eromenoi?
>>

Simple:
>be ancient fag

>incapable of not sexualizing that concept
>tell sexualized story to writer

But you're a fag too, so this is pointless. Just please do as many drugs as you like and stay clear of kids.

Where does it say he likes to play with kids? No one claims that in any quote. All the passages are about kissing eunuchs or having male favourites. Is Plutarch an evil homo?

Not extendmaxxing is for casuals.
Assuming the Macedonians destroy the jewish temple, the ensuing midrash about jesus would be exactly the same (since it is written based on the OT), but the writers would be seething against Macedonia instead of Rome.
There would be Rome (West) + Macedonia (East) instead of Rome (West) + Rome (East).
So you're right, perhaps Macedonia takes the hit of near eastern hordes (including those bringing christianity), and we could have had a christianized East and a gentile West.

Lads, lads:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skanderbeg

There is the real Alexander the Great. It is a bitter pill to accept for those who have built their beliefs out of these shadows of the past but the overlaps are too great for them to be different people. Skandabeg is the Turkish form. In English he would be Lord Alexander. Or Alexander the Great. b.1405. d.1468. AD.

Syvain Tristan writes interestingly about it. No one used AD numbering prior to the Gregorian calendar and Renaisance historians inherit these dusty undated documents of random spelling and try to piece it all together. And different accounts spawn different similar people at random times.
>>
>>18678722
I honestly think Alexander was a mere figure head, Phillip nurtured a generation of brilliant commanders with military acumen, these went onto become the Diadochi after Alexander's death. and I think the power always remained with them and they basically re-wrote everything around the campaign to fit a narrative to retain power. Somatophylakes were the main perpetrators and there were of course other commanders and captains who were involved in the conspiracy.

>Nobody's name will [echo for millennia]

>>

That's not true. I looked into this a while back, and the AD system begins to come in during the dark ages.
There is definitely a lot of grey areas and you can find time contractions and extensions here and there in the (European) timeline, but it's on the order of maybe a few centuries added in, not eighteen of them.
Now when it comes to the Levant, scholars prioritize the bible's schizophrenic timeline above all reason, which leads to all kinds of nonsense regarding Egypt and Babylon and so on. There we can probably subtract a whole millennia.

Alexander was trash, an insecure faggot who destroyed the Macedonian army

His father, Phillip II, was soley responsable for building up from scratch a loyal, disciplined and intelligent army and also being a good diplomat with the other cities, Macedonia would be nothing without him

Mf thought we has a deity, forced to be treated like a god - the same way as the persians - betraying those loyal to his father, not only that, he killed his best commander, that made the entire persian assault possible, due to pure envy (Parmenio) and his son and killed the man that saved his life in a drunk argument

No wonder why he got assassinated, he was pure hubris and insecurity

I was enjoying reading until someone started trying to focus on Alexander the Great in their homosexual hero for sodomy and anal sex between men. Then it turned into, once discovered that Greek pagans had normalized some practices which were not Christian yet, a focus on Greek homosexuality and pedophilia. If we could just focus on the history and humanities that would be great. I suspect the people trying to claim Alexander the Great is a Muslim is the same people spamming the board that Christianity and Yahweh is an evil demon but only allah according to Muhammad is good. I wish we could get these people out of Greek history and Christianity. Alexander the Great paved the way for the KJV Bible. I’m sure God had a plan in that. If Daniel begged God to shine upon His own people and the sanctuary, then I’m sure this applies to Alexander the Great’s sins and the Greeks and Romans to sanctify them. Muslims are even benefiting from the same blessing, yet they try to attack him.

Machiavelli actually the opposite.
He relates Achemenids to Ottomans and compares them France.
He says that France is easy to conquer, but hard to keep because nobles will defect, while Acheneids/Ottomans are hard to conquer but easy keep because all governorns are slaves of the sultan.
