>Hitler couldn't paintWhere does this meme come from? This looks fucking amazing for an amateur. He should have been given a spot in the art school.
It's servicable but lacks creativity and genius. He's no Rothko.
>>18687317He's worse than many contemporary literal whos, even in the specific kitsch art his work heavily refers to.
This kinda artwork wouldn't make it into an indie videogame. It looks unfinished and plain. Doesn't make me feel anything.
>>18687317The perspective is all fucked up. The artist had no idea how to use a fucking ruler (tool).
>>18687338oh but when picasso does it it's genius
>>18687338>>18687333your face when it was a black transgender woman who painted it instead
>>18687341The difference is that Picasso could easily create something like that and understood perspective; he simply chose not to use it. Hitler is a good example of an outsider artist, like Chris Chan.
>>18687317This looks like AI-slop
>a decent amateur painter should be able to get into the most prestigious art school in the entire world
>>18687350>it looks like shit but the artist was capable of not making it look like shit so it's genius!!
>>18687357>implying he was decentHe had no undestanding of perspective and couldn't create human forms. He was a below average artist. He applied out of pure hubris.
>>18687357>>18687361here is a pair of works by Academy of Fine Arts Vienna alumnus Maria Anwander
>>18687317Art school is such a weird institution. Wouldn't you want to go there to LEARN how to paint properly?
>>18687366I mean at least it's not embarassing. It's not a tryhard attempt into a castle that ends up looking all fucked up. It's what it attempts to be. So like a subversive piece.
>>18687379>at least it had zero effort put in to it
>>18687379Holy shit the absolute cope LMAOO
>>18687360yes
>>18687379people like OP struggle understanding that art doesn't exist in a vacuum, which is why he would've been rejected from art school too
>>18687341I hope you're trolling. Cubism is precisely about combining multiple perspectives into one piece. The painting in OP is supposed to be realistic, but the left tower is crooked and roof are all painted straight as though they're the observer's eye level whereas the castle walls are all tilted as though viewed from above. And it's anyone's guess if the rock on the left bottom is connected to the castle or if it's a separate peak between the observer and the castle. I couldn't pant this because the level of detail on the castle is high for watercolours, but it does have "amateur" written all over it. Whether that warrants the claim that he "couldn't" paint, I'll leave up to each individual person.
here's another piece from skilled artist and AFA Vienna alum Maria Anwanderthis one is called "High Resistance"
>>18687321kek
>>18687317It looks like an Asian painted it. All function, but he didn't put his soul into it.
>>18687397>all functionThe fuck you mean. He wasn't even technically gifted.
>>18687397That and his line work is absolute dogshit and looks borderline like an AI hallucination
>>18687398he's no (AFA Vienna alum) Wolfgang Hollegha, that's for sure
>>18687407nta but I don't think this piece aimed for technicality
>>18687321>>18687366>>18687407>Hitler wanted to paint generic Romanticist landscapes in a school focused on impressionism You're just making Hitler look even more retarded. He wasn't outright rejected either, he was recommended to peruse architecture based on his work
>>18687418what WAS this talented AFA Vienna alum aiming for?
>>18687321>>18687366>>18687407>>18687420These are all unironically better works of art, Hitler's look like it was painted by a boomer by comparison
>>18687420The point of abstract expressionism is to change the atmosphere of a space without resorting to concrete subject matter. It's rooted in form and color theory. I'm not saying you have to like it, but if you're going to critique art you should at least try to understand the context behind it and the aims of the artists themselves
>>18687419>Sorry applicant, but the flawed perspective and sketchy linework of your submission makes it clear you will never be able to paint random blobs of color
>>18687420Give me the name and the cycle and I'll tell you. I'm not sure exactly what kind of a case you're trying to build here though. That realism wasn't necessary because genres besides realism are represented? Do you think that elevates OP picrel? It barely passes as a realist painting, trying to say it impressionist or cubist would decimate its worth completely.
>>18687430Hitler didn't want to paint expressionist pieces, he wasn't an expressionist artist, so what was he doing at an expressionist art institution?
>>18687428What's the aim of not resorting to concrete subject matter tho
>>18687435AFA wasn't an expressly expressionist instutition, I'm just cherrypicking shitty art that actually did make it through
>>18687438Because it ties a work to a specific setting, which betrays the main point of merely changing the atmosphere of a room, as it makes the piece less about atmosphere and more about the subject matter itself, at least in the eyes of the artists making this shit
>>18687432Here's a rundown of Hollegha's workhttps://wolfganghollegha.com/en/paintings/I THINK the one in that picture is Oil On Canvas - 1963 but it's hard to tell because they all look the fucking same
>>18687447Alternative explanation: making realistic paintings is difficult and painting random blobs of color is easy
>>18687454Making realistic landscapes isn't particularly difficult either, paint on canvas naturally lend themselves well to more realist works. Ever seen Bob Ross?
>>18687317The main issue he faced with entering any tertiary education was that he failed to produce a highschool diploma as he dropped out at the age of 16 before finishing school.
why do incels pretend shitler didn't literally apply for one of the best art schools in the entire world?
>>18687460Bob ross is a professional painter. Hitler was a fucking amateur. He had no painting education. For being completely self-taught his art is pretty good.
>>18687407>>18687452It is dog
>>18687468Bob Rosses whole shtick was that anyone could be an artist with the right medium. Watercolor tends to just lend itself well to landscapes
>>18687427look i've improved it
>>18687477If you did it with chalk, it would legitimately be better this way. There'd be layers to it, literally and figuratively.
>>18687482>If you did it with chalk, it would legitimately be better this way. There'd be layers to it, literally and figuratively.lmaoooo modernity has really done a number on you
one macarthur genius grant, please
>>18687486I'm not a modernist. The only way to fix a shitty realistic painting is either to make it fully realistic or to fully lean into its symbolism. You chose the latter.>>18687490You made this one worse for example. Because there was nothing to fix.
>>18687491>You made this one worse for example. Because there was nothing to fix.But now it has more layers, both literally and figuratively
>>18687494What's the additional figurative layer?
>>18687498Commentary on abstract expressionism being a scam
>>18687501That layer is gonna be missing for a while, Anon, because the Starry Night isn't abstract. They are concrete objects. But I suppose I now understand why some people simp for Hitler's paintings. They don't know shit about art.
>>18687511What was the additional figurative layer in >>18687477?
>>18687338First time looking at a watercolour painting?
>>18687341Tbh Picasso guy used be quite good when he was like 15
>>18687546lol I'm being facetious about Picasso, he's obviously brilliant and even his abstract work is actually well-executed and neatBut I maintain that Hitler's shitty deviantart castle has more artistic merit than anything in this >>18687452 actual Vienna art school alum's entire hors d'oeuvre
>>18687338Because it's not oil on canvas retard
>>18687317It's good, it's just a lower-class form of art. The professionals by this point were either doing oil-on-canvas hyper-realism or abstract hyper-subversion. Anything in between wasn't accepted or seen as interesting.
>>18687317I like Hitler's paintings. There's something eerie about themMaybe it's just the fact he never drew people but I always get a sense of profound loneliness when looking at his art
>>18687551>hyper-realismSo exactly what Hitler did
why do hitler fans defend his paintings? do they realize that if he had been an outstanding artist then you wouldn't have ever gotten der fuhrer
>>18687341Picasso was a tool for the desecration of art
>>18687317>Where does this meme come from?People who hate him and don't give a shit beyond a cheap insult.>He should have been given a spot in the art school. The most important quality to get into art school isn't being able to paint. It's being so far up your own ass that your nose sticks out of your mouth. Just look at half the posts in this thread.
>>18687317It's ok. Nothing special. It just is not Vienna Art academy Material, especially not when he applied during the 1900s.There existed a whole talent pipeline, to enter one of these you already had to have some sort of formation in the arts.
>>18687317Supposedly, he painted this.
>>18687317It’s poetic that his biggest contribution to the art world was more impactful and kino than any other: World War 2. No other 20th century piece can top that.
>>18687549Picasso was simply different than the people who copied him. He was genuinely good at his craft already and went into cubism for the love of the game while the others were simply shit at art.
>>18687321People always meme about Rothko, but when you see these paintings in person they are actually really aesthetically pleasing. He was not just haphazardly throwing paint onto a canvas to make an academic point about art, he was makinv am legitimately good art.
>>18687766WW2 as avant garde performance art/suicide is a funny meme. But it's imo slanderous and to a large degree untrue.
>>18687317>He should have been given a spot in the art school. The issue wasnt his lack of skill it was his lack of the proper credentials. He was the equivalent of a high school dropout, so his application was automatically rejected as a matter of course. He could have requested a special exception be made because of his family situation, and his skill as an artist, but he apparently did not do so. As a result, his portfolio was never considered.
>>18687473>Bob Rosses whole shtick was that anyone could be an artist with the right medium.I don't know who this Bob Ross is but he sounds like a complete idiot.
>>18687317Imagine 1940s vegetarian, painter, hippie, hitler
>>18688270Why are his legs disconnected from the torso?
>>18688323yeah, shills really are desperate.
>this is fine art or else you’re a jewish tranny communist No
>>18687317It would be a good painting in a community college art class. But he's so clearly focused on the technical aspects he barely has down, that he can't actually put any feeling into it along the way.
>>186873174/10 would make great cookie tin art
>>18687317His landscapes were decent, not great, probably the sort of thing you’d put on a postcard or mug. But his paintings of buildings were kinda shit and the very few paintings he did of people demonstrated a really poor understanding of the human form (pic related).
>>18688420>His landscapes were decent*for an amateur with no interest in making the art a profession.
Theres one of a basic houselike thing where he not only fucked thw perspective but also put a window where it makes nl sense lmao
Lmao
He had a higher calling
>>18687317For watercolour paintings his works are actually really good. The fact many of them were drawn while he was a soldier in the trenches makes them extremely impressive
>>18688420>demonstrated a really poor understanding of the human formThe human form is fine? It's faces he couldn't draw
>>18688451Looks beautifulWhat's the problem, tranny libcuck kikes? cant appreciate a building that isnt a commieblock or a glass abomination?
Him being a postcard artist is so fucking funnyImagine buying this postcard as a souvenir from some homeless Viennese kid in 1912 and only recognizing the name decades later
>>18687317He was a somewhat talented painter who mostly produced extremely low-effort art (small watercolor sketches and postcards). According to his own autobiography he painted multiple postcards a day to sell on the street.People who sperg about how his art is le bad because it isn't Rembrandt are usually faux-intellectuals arguing in poor faith.Pic related is probably his only vaguely famous painting
>>18688578actually that's how germutts look like
>>18687317germs always get raped by Poles
>>18687317The boring answer is Hitler was a decent lower-class artist. Talented, even. Just not professional level.People only have strong opinions on his art because they have strong opinions on the man himself
>>18688578Nah, the legs are fucked.>>18688587Lmao, low spatial intelligence detected.
>>18688983Honest question: Do you think every 19th century building had perfectly geometric windows? This is what houses looked at the time, retard.I could easily draw red lines to 'prove' the perspective in this photograph is wrong too
>>18688983This is such a lazy own. You'd have to put it side by side with the real world building to tell if the perspective of the slanted windows is accurate or not. But for some reason the fiercest critics of Hitler's art never seem to do that despite him painting plenty of recognizable locations
Yeah, he was such a master artist that he drew fucked up reality. Every piece having fucked up perspective is just a coincidence. What a bunch of dumbasses.
Bottom left window isn't lined up with the one on top or next to it, nice defense, retards.
>>18687317I like Hitler's art personally speakingBut I'm also a nazi chud so maybe I'm biased
>>18689014The issue isn’t that the windows are crooked or that the building was warped, retard. It’s that the building he painted is physically impossible. When you have parallel lines along a flat surface that recedes into the distance, the lines will converge at a single point, it’s called the vanishing point. There are other problems too. The angle/depth of the staircase is different from that of the wall, making it look detached from the building. Also, the proportion of the door to the windows looks incredibly awkward. I’m not even saying Hitler was entirely without talent. His landscapes were good. But he had poor understanding of perspective and trying to defend something like is just pure cope.>>18689039>You'd have to put it side by side with the real world building to tell if the perspective of the slanted windows is accurate or not.I couldn’t identify the original building, but it’s irrelevant because real life doesn’t work like that. I don’t need to see the original building to know the one he painted is physically impossible.
>>18689086>When you have parallel linesHow do you know the lines of a window are parallel in a 19th century residential house? That was the point being made which you seem not to understand
>>18689086>I couldn’t identify the original buildingWhy don't you choose an example of a building you actually can identity then? He painted plenty of landmarks in Vienna that are still standing. Critique those paintings and compare them to photographs of the same buildings. Maybe you're correct and the perspective is off but I'd appreciate more effort in your argument
>>18689102>How do you know the lines of a window are parallel in a 19th century residential house?Because the windows are on the same plane. The image that the anon posted showed a building where the second story was warped. The windows were on separate planes, so they weren’t necessarily going to be parallel. Whereas in Hitler’s painting, every window was on the same plane. Are you now going to argue that maybe people just deliberately built windows crooked?>>18689111Pic related is another one. I hope I don’t even need to draw it out. The two columns are clearly at different angles.
>>18689163>The two columns are clearly at different anglesAs they are in real life. Both columns have a very slight outer slant that becomes apparent when viewing the building from a side angle. Apparently this photograph, too, was made with bad perspective!
>>18689183>As they are in real life. They literally aren’t. I looked up your photo, the photographer used a wide-angle shot/lens (20 mm focal length), which distorts shapes/angles. Here’s what it looks like head on. Even just look at the painting again, the left side of the building in is tilted relative to the right side. Why are you so invested in defending his art anyway?
Defending Hitlers fucked up perspective work in his paintings is the funniest shit. Truly the third reichs strongest soldier lmao.
>>18689217It isn't as obvious head-on but there's still a slantKeep trying retard and possibly someday reality might conform to your geometric delusions
>>18689217>Why are you so invested Why are you invested in pretending there isn't a slant when there is one?Because you can't deal with the fact that real life buildings are slightly tilted?Because you want all art to be a replica of imaginary geometric perfection?
>>18689232Here is an old photograph taken from the side view, and the tilt is still apparent.ALL pictures of the building show the same tilt. Has EVERY picture of the same building been taken with a distorted camera? Or are you just lying?Your attempt to project your own bias onto me is embarrassing.
>>18689217>Why are you so invested in defending his art anyway?why are you so invested in critiquing it?
>>18689259>It isn't as obvious head-on but there's still a slant. Now we’ve gone from “perspective doesn’t matter because some buildings were warped” to “well, if you squint REALLY HARD at the photo it KINDA looks tilted just like Hitler’s painting”. Lmao, this really is the best you can do. You didn’t even respond to my point on the windows. I accept your concession.>>18689261My position is that his paintings were mediocre and he sucked at perspective. Read my posts again and maybe the gears in your brain will start to turn.
>>18689296There is still a slant. You just can't see it because you're blind or disingenuous. You chose a head-on picture deliberately because you knew that would make the slant less apparent, and yet it's still visible.
>>18689280Imagine being so retarded you can't draw proper parallel lines... yikes. The one on the right isn't aligned with the pillar, dumbass.
>>18689280This photo shows them tilting inward. In Hitler’s painting they’re tilting outward. Therefore Hitler was a shit artist. See? I can do this autistic cherry-picking and hair-splitting too. In reality they look tilted inward in this photo due to the keystone effect, but it’s beside the point.>>18689283Because that’s the topic of the thread retard. The difference is my critiques are fair/objective. Your defense of his art just stems from some chuddy emotional attachment to the Hitler and the third reich.>>18689298>Still seething and coping over muh slant just to defend Hitler’s mediocre art.Lmao.
>>18689280Not my fault you can’t draw straight lines nigga. Also the columns are slightly wider at the bottom.
>>18689320>Because that’s the topic of the thread retard. The difference is my critiques are fair/objective.i'm not the anon you were arguing with, I just saw you asking "why are you so invested in defending him?" and noticed the exact same question applied to you. Presumably the answer is the same too. I really doubt you're being fully objective about this and not letting the fact that it's Hitler creep into your criticism. How could you not?
>>18689320Nope, >>18689280 shows them tilted outward.
>>18689321Your own attempt to prove your point, proves you wrong. The tower is (slightly) tilted
>>18689326Holy fucking retarded. Talk about missing the point entirely. But most of the third reich apologists on this board are brown/ESLs, so I shouldn’t be surprised.>>18689323Everyone has their own biases, but I try to be objective. I already said he had some talent. I thought saying something so obvious like “the perspective is bad” wouldn’t be that controversial, but here we are.
>>18687317Shitler was a gay drug addicted tranny pedophile. Churchill and Stalin were heroes of the White race for defeating savage germutt nazi orcs
