A religion is a re-ligion, a system with wich the practitioners re-ligate, or connect, to one or more divine things.Marxism-Leninism doesn't have this. But the historical behavior of this movement has many undeniable parallels such as schisms, evangelism and a perceived orthodoxy. Perhaps its necessary to create a new category that engulfs both traditional religions in the western understanding and ideological movements, even those of the past like confucianism or chinese legalism, who also have the proselitism, schisms, reform movements, an orthodoxy and heresy equivalents, revisionism?
