Looking back on it now, it's a thing everyone's heard of, but not many people really know that much about, and even fewer care that much.It's like a person from 1848 saying "The Revolutions that happened this year are totally the biggest ever, and everyone will still be talking about them all the time in 2026."

The US control over its part of the continent, and protection by two oceans, made this a really big shock, and unlike Pearl Harbor, it had no military goal, and was done by the much inferior in battle brown Islamists.

It straight up traumatized millions of Americans because they were so divorced from the actual actions of their government in the world.Up to that point the wars were happening on TV and it did not affect most people. It was like children starving in Africa. Sad in concept, but not really part of their lives in reality.In a way it was way more effective than it had any rights to be. But it also made the Americans so afraid they handed over all of their freedoms to the government and allowed it to oppress the Middle East even more than before. So kind of a self-own for Al Qaeda and political Islam in general.
