I went to a lecture about the Middle Ages and questions about marriage were raised, mainly regarding the debitum conjugale and I heard so many bizarre things that I don't even know where to begin. The speaker said it was one of the medieval laws of "gender equality" and marriage was based on a strict interpretation of the letters of Saint Paul in the Bible (1 Corinthians 7:3-5), which stated that the husband's body belonged to the wife and the wife's body belonged to the husband. then she talked about the "Impotence Trials" where apparently the man would undergo a humiliating physical examination performed by experienced female matrons from the community, including married women, to determine if there was any anatomical impediment or witchcraft (the so-called "knot in the needle"), and then they would report the verdict to the male judges.
the speaker said they used stimulating oils and ointments made from herbs to try to generate a physical reaction or they applied specific massages and touches to intimate areas... dude?!?!? Wtf!??!

2/2 They cited courts in France and Italy, where matrons tried to create an environment that would psychologically test the man by being seductive or something like that. Finally, she said that in the Middle Ages, men of the Church considered the female body and childbirth as "women's affairs," and male doctors rarely touched intimate parts due to modesty; the experienced midwives of the city were the only ones who "had practical knowledge of anatomy." And that, for the judge, they were the equivalent of a "scientific police" or Today's "forensic doctors" believed that the ecclesiastical court depended entirely on their verdict, and if a rich and powerful nobleman was accused of impotence and his family was desperate for an heir, the testimony of five middle-aged peasant women was worth more. How much of this is true? Could someone recommend some sources and books to enlighten me?

>breakdown
Lol Unfortunately, this matriarchal garbage is legitimate.

Wait until you read that sometimes they would lock you and your wives in a small, sealed room for weeks so they could resolve their marital problems or in the case you're talking about, where they would force you to have sex with your wives in front of these old women and "doctors." GIGAKEK All this hatred of the Middle Ages by the Enlightenment thinkers is never enough. This bizarre practice was only officially banned in France in 1677.

>>18696522
That's true. You forgot the best part: the verdicts of these courts were read in PUBLIC or recorded in minutes that the entire community would eventually come to know. The man was officially labeled as "incapable" or "cursed." The Middle Ages was the most anti-male society of all lol lol lol lol

>saar a demon left you with impotence problems saar, you will now be publicly humiliated through female shaming saar

Ok Could I have some sources?
>>
>>18696520
>apparently the man would undergo a humiliating physical examination performed by experienced female matrons from the community
Help, call the most experienced village matrons! I may have been bewitched and I need to be checked ASAP
>>
>>18696522
>men of the Church considered the female body and childbirth as "women's affairs," and male doctors rarely touched intimate parts due to modesty; the experienced midwives of the city were the only ones who "had practical knowledge of anatomy
The first perpetuators of the nonsense about the sacred feminine?
>>
>>18696539
>not carrying an amulet of St. Foutin around your neck to guard against virility stealing deamons
Do you even Middle Ages bro?
>>
>>18696546
They were stupid and extremely superstitious.
>>
>>18696522
The medical experts didn't touch the human body themselves for the longest time in Europe. Especially bloody operations would only be done by their assistants while the "experts" would oversee the process. A fucking barber knew how to actually do shit while a medical doctor was just book smart.
>>
It seems to me a feminist story that is completely distorted at best and false at worst.
>the experienced midwives of the city were the only ones who "had practical knowledge of anatomy
? That doesn't even make sense.
>>
>>18696551
That's what I'm trying to find out.
>>18696550
I didn't know that. So would that be an inaccuracy to the arguments presented?
>>
>>18696551
>It seems to me
do you often judge history based on your feefees?
>That doesn't even make sense
What's so hard to understand about what OP said? Who else was supposed to know about that specific anatomy? The priests? Those only knew about little boys
>>
>>18696520
>or they applied specific massages and touches to intimate areas
Oh yeah! A woman who knew too much about sex would be summoned to the fucking ecclesiastical court to physically examine a man, and everything would depend entirely on her verdict.. idiots can't even invent quality fanfiction anymore. whatever these "massages and techniques" are, they seem to have come straight out of some trashy Marie Claire magazine rather than the Middle Ages. There weren't sex coaches in the Middle Ages. Your speaker was fat and had purple hair, right?
>>
>>18696553
Stop trolling, schizotard. Get out
>>
>>18696559
In other words you concede that you're an emotionally driven woman in a man's body
>>
>>18696520
Why didn't you ask the lecturer for their sources?
>>
>>18696520
>dude?!?!? Wtf!??!
Sorry, how old are you?
>>
>>18696566
I asked. She and the other speakers said that that lecture was "the first part" and that they would invite other experts for the next one
>>18696567
I can drink legally, for example.

>During the late 16th and 17th centuries in France, male impotence was considered a crime, as well as legal grounds for a divorce. The practice involved so-called "trial by congress" during which a panel made of clergy and medical professionals inspected man's ability to perform sexual acts.[3][4]
>There are multiple known cases of such trials between 1426 and 1712. In 1603 Jacques de Sales claimed his wife took his potency by means of magic. They were granted annulment of marriage. Marquis de Langey in 1657 was declared impotent by court and his wife was granted a divorce. In 1712 Marquis de Gesvers also was sued, but his wife died before the trial was concluded.[5]
It doesn't seem very unlikely that shit like this happened

Moid Doctors didn't know about female anatomy. matrons were the only ones who actually spent their days dealing with childbirth, abortions, vaginal infections, and the female body in real practice. This knowledge about women, which you only learned later, was restricted to women, not moids You only became interested in it later.
>>
>>18696584
You can participate in the discussion without using feminist jargons. Otherwise, I will ask you to leave.
>>
>>18696580
>>18696522
See how women will always inevitably abuse these laws to harm their husbands and obtain a divorce. They are not your friends, remember that. A woman today thinks like a woman from the Neolithic period. The only difference is the power they possess
>>
>>18696574
Then go to the next one or write them an e-mail requesting their sources.
>>
>>18696580
what the fuck it's real... why do matriarchal societies allow men to be humiliated like this?
