Christianity, or more specifically its prohibition on marrying non-christians is what actually created the white race. Before it there was a Mediterranean race connected with, well itself, north africa, the levant, mesopotamia, etcetera, and the barbarians living further north who had their own skin tone. But when islam abruptly severed that connection, the marrying between different christian nobles slowly bled down to the peasants and homogenized this "white race".
