Very little actually. By 1945, overwhelming majorities of the populations wanted the war to end, even if it was a negotiated peace and not unconditional surrender. People talk alot of about the forced conscription of the Axis soldiers, while ignoring the Allies did the same exact thing. In British India alone, they needed 500,000 soldiers to maintain order during "peace" time". Now imagine that number if there was revolt / Japanese invasion.

The Allied powers weren't properly prepared for the war until 1944, after which they (despite impressive resistance on the German part) promptly crushed them. The Axis powers did well in a lot of respects, but they only got so far via the unpreparedness of their enemies and a heavy dose of good luck wrt the France situation.

Germany was a disarmed country and had to rapidly re-militarize. As they started arming so did Britain and France, and Britain had a stronger economy so it was always ahead. It was Germany that was forced to act fast even though it was unprepared because otherwise the arms race with Britain would have been lost so badly it would have no hope at all.
