For how contemporaneously important this document was, in a blow to British power and the unity of Her former Dominions, it really hasn't amounted to much. It's supposed to make the United States treaty-bound to come to Australia's aid in the event of it being attacked, but the only time it was invoked was by Australia's PM after 9/11. The United States is likely to invoke it in a potential confrontation with China.

President John F. Kennedy is also supposed to have said in confidence to I believe PM Robert Menzies, that this document has no domestic legislative enforcement. Many Americans and Australians that are not historically informed, have no idea it exists.
