Operation Bagration ended in a german strategic and tactical victory and I'm tired of people pretending otherwise. None of the Soviets goals were met and the Germans stood their ground over most of the front during this pitiful "offensive" with the only withdrawals being carefully planned and tactical in nature. Even there the Soviets were only able to force tactical withdrawals because of the sheer amount of human wave attacks they used rather than any real strategic ability on their part.

>the sheer amount of human wave attacks they used
dont forget the thousands of vehicles and millions of guns and billions of munitions america gave the soviets FOR FREE
lol
>>
>>18719605
America really shot itself in the foot with that
>>
>>18719605
Exactly
>>
>>18719606
fun fact!
all of the losses the soviets took in 1942 were made up for by lend lease munitions provided IN 1942!
>>
>>18719601
This is all true and I don't know why more people don't know this already.
>>
>>18719601
So the Soviets were pushed back after Bagration? Right? RIGHT?
>>
>>18719845
Yes, in 1991
>>
>>18719845
One battle being a strategic victory doens't mean that the war suddenly became strategically winnable in the long run.

>Operation Bagration ended in a german strategic and tactical victory
Please enlighten me as to how

The USSR conquered the Baltics and Belarus but weren’t able to reach mainland Germany until 1945.
>>
>>18719866
They won in the long run. Germany is still alive while Russia slowly bleeds to death in Ukraine.
>>
Is this like a parody or what
>>
what was operation bagration’s objectives?
>>
>>18719857
The Soviets lost and the germans won. That is how. None of Operation Bagrations objectives were taken and the Germans managed an orderly retreat to new defensive lines in the parts of the front where they were actually pushed back by the red armys sheer weight of numbers.

>>18719902
Operation Overlord was a German strategic victory

The Battle of Berlin was a German tactical and strategic victory
>>
The Soviets completely destroyed 28 out of 34 divisions of Army Group Centre. Entire armies, including the German 4th Army, 9th Army, and 3rd Panzer Army, all virtually ceased to exist as operational forces.
Nice victory, I guess?
>>
>>18719939
Soviet casualties were far far greater than German losses and most of the units you mentioned were quickly rebuilt and remained part of the wehrmacht order of battle.
>>
>>18719939
And in doing so the Soviets lost almost 200,000 men. Think of this battle, and the eastern front as a whole, as a pyrrhic victory for the Germans not because of the immediate results but for the long-term demographic consequences it brought to the USSR.

Germany's youth is 40% foreigners

Those migrants will breed like rabbits so regardless, Germany’s population will rise while Russia’s will shrink
