What are the biggest arguments against the historicity of the Hebrew Bible/Tanakh/Old Testament?
>>

You will find them all in this video

>I like gay sex
>The Bible says gay sex is wrong
>Things I like can't be wrong
>Therefore the Bible is le bullshit
>>
>>18719925
uhh zero archeological evidence maybe?
>>
geology, egyptian and mesopotamian records, archeology
>>
>>18719996
>>18719999
Nope, see >>18719982
>>
>>18719925
The laws of the Torah are far too barbarous to have come from a god
>>
Why do jews keep bringing up faggotry completely unprompted?
It must be all they think about
>>
>>18719925
But what I would claim that is part to the historicity thing is that there is the thing of use and function and the codex function is important if that function is important to us or you or I to the thing has a historicity and that if this thing of historicity is important then part to that is that use or function then is the historicity or has the texture of historicity because of the temporalizing of functionality and that temporality is the navigating through chronology and historicity and the contextualizing to those things but is language the revealed dialectical image function to the mind is a thing that merkbah throne mysticism sometimes approaches near to contextualizing and has a function of occasionally imaging visionary perspectives and also this is the thing that the revealed image is an image and if an image is a text or is dialectical and that is also to the issue about historicity and the thing about ideas like image or text or dialectic possessing historicity and temporality and function

Jews built the pyramids
>>
>>18720125
They're far too based to come from a man
>>
>>18720186
No, they are dumb shit only schizophrenic goat herders would find acceptable
>>
>>18720186
>mutilate men at birth
>based
Maybe for feminists.
>>
>>18720186
A lot of them parallels the code of hammurabi.
>>
>>18720178
It's antisemitic to disagree with this!
>>
>>18720178
The theorem of pythagoras could probably measure those pyramids is the thing because those pyramids are built from squares from what I can understand, a modular construction type of thing
>>
Exodus is a good one. There is zero archaeological evidence of the 40 years in the desert. The Jews were never slaves in Egypt. They lied about the entire thing. Moses seems to be based on some earlier semi mythological figure. Also Yahweh having multiple wives like Ashera which they half ass scrubbed from the Old Testament.
>>
>>18719925
Are there any arguments in favor of its historicity?
>>
>>18719925
The fact that Genesis is just a ripoff of the Sumerian Flood myth
>>
>>18720345
well there are people in history who could sound like people from the bible if you amplify their one minuscule similarity, ignore their dozens of differences and cut hundreds of years of distance in history to make them work
>>
>>18719925
>No evidence for exodus
>No evidence for the flood
>The book of Daniel has many anachronisms and factual errors
>Borrowings of certain mythological elements from Egyptian hymns, the Baal cycle, and Mesopotamian legends
>>
>>18720381
Also the fact that the mosaic law demands everyone follows circumcision and dietary restrictions is enough proof the religion is not of divine origin but instead was made by schizo goat herders
>>
>>18720381
Oh, and don't forget Deuteronomy! The high priest just happened to find it in the temple. And it just so happened say that all other Jewish sanctuaries were to be abolished.
>>
>>18720381
The great flood happened but it wasn’t the entire planet. It seems to be a cultural memory of the Bosporus straight breaching and flooding what is now the Black Sea. This would have destroyed many coastal towns and been an extremely traumatic and seemingly supernatural event for the civilizations of the early Bronze Age.
>>
>>18720391
More likely the memory of the flood in Southern Mesopotamia. The details of the Bible's account are particularly similar to Atrahasis.
>>
>>18720391
Cities flooding was common at the dawn of civilization as the first city-states formed on flood plains along rivers as that was the land most fertile for early agriculture, but was also most prone to flooding during the wet seasons and flood myths served as cautionary tales. It doesn't have to be more complicated than this
>>
>>18720391
Then the Bible was lying since the text says it targeted all mankind
>>
>>18720434
In a way yes but for them the middle east was all of mankind. These people were working with what they had limited as it was.
>>
>>18720064
so you were not interested in an answer after all. why are you even here? is your performance here regarded as a high point of intellectual achievement by the community of your trailer park?
>>
>>18720391
>It seems to be a cultural memory of the Bosporus straight breaching and flooding what is now the Black Sea.
this is such bullshit.
first, list any evidence linking the flood myth to the flooding of the black sea. anything at all. we have the flooding and we have the myths far away from that flooding, but fuck all to connect them. this is just the "please please give us any historical basis at all for any of our fairy tales" crowd talking.
second, this is like claiming that the idea of the sun going around the earth was conceived while observing the sunrise on September 23, 4004 BCE. there were countless floods in countless places, and those places (and no other) have flood myths. the khoikhoi of the Kalahari do not, for instance.
finally, it's 'strait', not 'straight'. mind your illiteracy.
>>
>>18719925
That it's an obvious product of the Maccabean era. There several mutually supporting evidence for this:
>The vast majority of the books of the old testament read like Hasmonean political propaganda
>The archeological record shows Torah observing practices starting during the Hasmonean era
>The earliest fragments of the old testament are from the hasmonean era
>There was neither a practice nor a reason for writing these long narrative texts earlier in the Levant, and their style and content are obviously hellenist
>>
The most popular on /his/ are “I hate God”, “I hate Jews”, and “I am trans”
>>
>>18721636
I don’t hate god but I sure feel like he hates me sometimes. Gotta say that /his/ “Christians” don’t exactly help with that…
>>
>>18719925
The Exodus, conquest of Canaan, patriarchal stories, and the lack of clear evidence for a huge united monarchy under David and Solomon
>>
>>18722630
An ancient conquest of Canaan and a huge ancient united monarchy gifted by God make perfect sense as hasmonean propaganda though, just saying...
