Utalitarians were:
>Ahead of the curve on decriminalizing homosexuality
>Ahead of the curve on abolishing slavery
>Ahead of the curve on women's rights
>Ahead of the curve on farmed animal welfare
>Ahead of the curve on caring about extinction risks
... and now it looks like they're ahead of the curve on wild animal welfare, including insect/arthropod welfare!

Does any ethical framework that philosophers have come up with have a track record even close to this?

Decriminalizing homosexuality and giving women rights has ended up destroying the nuclear family in the long-term (which was always the true purpose behind those movements)
>>
>>18720841
The Quakers were ahead of the curve on tons of moral issues.
>>
>>18720841
>Ahead of the curve
We need to go back on most of these issues.
>>
>>18720885
Women's rights, native americans rights, abolition of slavery, pacifism and conscientious objection to military.

>ahead of the curve
>ie wrong

All of them need to and likely will be reversed either partially or fully.

Why don't losers ever learn how to lose with grace? They are always sore losers instead.
>>
>>18720841
A lotta Utilitarian rhetoric and adherents actively also pushed pretty fucked up stuff too. A lot of those environmental sacrifice zones used that very same logic.

The utility being...?

Does utilitarianism?

The nuclear family is itself a recent concept, the standard in most of the world for most of history has been extended families.
>>
>>18721034
No.
Big extended families were one of the popular modes but not the standard.

The rough version is massive family units usually existed in regions and periods with very labour intensive farming. So think China, Egypt in general or high medieval Europe.
In Europe in particular, whenever conditions allowed for that the families were atomising. For instance when majority of farming was slash and burn people moved out from their parents after marriage(they usually married in their early 20's) with the elderly usually being cared for by a one particular child of theirs and their family if that was even needed(prior to christianity some of these peoples practiced the day of the pillow to avoid that). As such the relapse to roughly nuclear model the moment serfdom disappeared and living conditions started to improve is predictable thing for euros to do.

Who lost? The liberals are an interested group and the folk people are correct about them.
Where’s the loser?
>>
They do have an oddly consistent habit of worrying about tomorrow’s moral scandal today
>>
>>18722410
So pretty much most of human history and society was still the extended family unit?

"The wheel's still in spin" means "the wheel's still in spin", don't take anything for granted buddy ;)
>>
>>18722725
There is no wheel. Cthulhu moves slow, but he only moves left. You lost.

>the folk people
Bro, at least learn what your buzzwords mean. And all of the changes you cry against are ones liberating more of the "folk people" to be full people.
The liberal elites will fight and claw and bite and drag your dumb donkey ass out of material and moral impovrishment, despite your inability to be thankful for it.
>>
>>18722792
Humans are still significantly to the right of where they were pre-agriculture, yours is a blip.
>>
>>18722794
White Christians were overwhelmingly responsible for the industrial revolution. White Christians walked on the moon.

lmao a ton of those liberal elites are depraved as fuck. Not even some reactionary shithead but a ton of the shit those elites did was utterly short-sighted or batshit idiotic.

Civilization is right-coded. It's orderly, hierarchial, and derives stability from martial power.
>>
>>18720902
Christ is going to rule with a rod of iron when he comes back, and faggots and feminists will not be spared. Tick tock.
>>

I think the more accurate assessment is that when the conditions allowed for it, people generally gravitated towards nuclear-like family structure, and it's not solely western thing - the Russian peasants lived in these kind of nuclear+ households until resurgent state reformed and enforced serfdom in the 15th century.

So if you went to Russia and told them they need to live in trad families again, then the trad of 1700 and trad of 1300 are two completely different things.

>gave us negative utilitarianism which lead to anti natalism
the most globohomo philosophy framework by far
>>
>>18723846
That's your dad beating you, bro. Christ loves us.
>>
>>18723802
Whites walked on the moon. Christians did nothing. Christians anywhere outside Europe did nothing. Worshipping a brown Jewish midget and his liberal revolutionary cult did nothing.
>>
>>18724385
The first liquid poured on the moon was communion wine given to Buzz Aldrin by the Church. Cope and seethe.

the spanish empire already ended racism and sexism hundreds of years before anglos caught on

so why aren't black people and hispanics IQ 100 and low crime like the white man despite all the civil rights and DEI
>>
>>18724392
In his capacity as a christian? Christianity sent him there?
Might as well say that men named Buzz walked the moon, and men named Buzz are superior to other men for it. Its moral and right and correct to be named Buzz!

Being gay isn't what got Turing to the computer, and being christian isn't what got Buzz to the moon and these are just incidents of their character that are irrelevant to the systems that carried them towards achievement.

Why hasn’t there been a second scientific revolution in subsaharan Africa if Christianity was responsible for the first one?
