The Spanish Empire preserved the grammar of Nahuatl (1547) & Quechua (1560) decades before English even had it’s own (1586).

Then came Aymara (1603), Mapuche (1606), Tagalog (1610), Guaraní (1639), Maya (1684), and dozens more.

While the Anglo world was still fumbling with its own tongue, the Spanish were safeguarding the voices of entire civilizations.

This is also reflected in mainland Europe, where Basque, Catalan, and Galician are still widely spoken and alive along with their identities. Look at what France did to Occitan, Breton, and Franco-Provencal, whereas what Britain did to the Celtic languages like Welsh and Gaelic.

Any attempts of subjugations or ethnic/cultural cleansing of the indigenous in Hispanic America occurred after independence from Spain. The Spanish crown herself protected the indigenous.

The Spanish had no right to exist in the Americas whatsoever. Europe for Europeans and America for Americans.

except that spanish america was just as european as it was american, and vice-versa
spanish america wasn't a colony, it was part of spain herself

>Classical Taíno is an extinct Arawakan language known primarily from historical Spanish chronicles and modern linguistic reconstructions. Because the original spoken tongue was largely lost following European colonization, modern learning frameworks rely heavily on comparative linguistics with related Arawak languages like Lokono
very cool, spain, very cool!

based on what is going on right now, africa does begin at the pyrenees, but this time towards the north

>Two decrees made in 1696 and 1770 called for the destruction of any indigenous language and outlawed the use of any language but Spanish in Spanish-occupied territories (Lockhart 2001). During the 51 year period between 1770 and 1821 - the year of Mexican independence - the Náhuatl language was outlawed and speakers of the language were persecuted. The public attitudes toward the language rightfully declined and shifted toward Spanish.

>Even though this period of persecution lasted only 51 years, the speed at which information transference and language shift can take place, decimated the speaking population of Náhuatl, a decisive blow from which it was never able to recover.

sounds like moorberian cope yet again

those were jews and freemasons in charge of colonial administration or however the burger is fried o algo

They also burned thousands of indigenous codices and failed to actually understand and and translate systems like Maya writing and Quipus even when they were literally being used right in front of them, thus robbing those civilizations off their agency and forever dooming them to never have their voices heard (in a fashion not tainted by Christianity and early colonial politics), or so it seemed until a bunch of anglo and russian scholars and one singular Maya worked together to crack the Maya script throughout in the 19th and 20th centuries.

And that’s a problem. Neither Spain nor any other European nation had any right to concern itself with the affairs of another continent.

spicniards are a retarded, browner version of kikes, they're compulsive liers but since they're so fucking dumb, their lies are incredibly easy to deboonk, basically their entire argument is "we preserved indigenous languages n shiet because we documented them" without realizing that the only reason those languages were documented was so that friars could convert the indians to kikestianity and teach them spanish more easily, not to mention that later on indigenous languages would be outlawed by these shameless moor rapebabies, shit like this is why I support all spicniards getting raped by moroccans (again)
>>
>Tagalog (1610)

"Preserved" my dih there were very few of them living in the Philippines during the first two centuries of Spanish Colonial Rule to actually force their culture around plus the natives weren't totally helpless as the American ones. More like they learned native languages like Tagalog to communicate & negotiate with the local tribes whom they mostly negotiated into being ruled by Spain than conquered.

Around 60%-70% percent of Mexico spoke Nahuatl when they gained independence. Most of the worst indigenous genocides happened after independence of hispanic american countries

It's not spaniards, it's chicanos and other latinx who spread the hispanchista lies
Some food for though, you will never find a hispanchista from countries like chile or argentina, guess why

latinx and browniards/browntugese will always take the contrarian take. respectin da indijienus became COOL and HIP wey, so now DA XKHWUEITE COWBOY MEN were evil rapists and the VAQUIEROS were noble independent freespirited travelers even though they were just as evil and rapey.
humans with the brains of fruit flies
>>18722436
They get their sassy attitude and manlet genes from their spaniard and italian ancestors. Nobody likes being around you people that's why people visit your country once, see that it's a favela with good food, then go right back to civilization and just eat microwaveable versions of your dishes without the inconvenience of sitting around you
>>
>>18722435
Do /pol/tards realize the Castillian and later Spanish crown constantly resettled the land they gained from the Reconquista with settlers from the north and they did it again when expelling the Moors, right?

The irony is that conquest and preservation sometimes came as a package deal
