I'm high as fuck right nowAnyways, tell me about the history of Reefer madness. Why did weed become associated with things like Jazz clubs?
>>18722184Because people at jazz clubs smoked weed? Duh?
>>18722184Great job smoking your brains out. That's exactly what the Jews want you to do. Idiot. How about you read the Bible? Specifically the part where it says BE SOBER. Then grow up. Previous generations were right to ban your drugs, it makes me sick smelling that shit when I walk through Boston.
>>18722191The Bible is 100x better when you read it while high to be honest, there's some pretty wacky shit in there, wouldn't be surprised if it were written on drugs
>>18722184Until the late 60s normies didn't really use drugs other than alcohol; it was limited to bohemian artists and jazz musicians.
>>18722207Not true, it's just that alcohol is the most plentiful as it's the easiest to source and hardest to regulate as a result. You need to actually grow weed and opium, but to make alcohol you just need to leave some grape juice out to ferment
>>18722191Trying too hard
>>18722191Protip: they were blazing the dudeweed in the Temple
>>18722207In the 1850s, an article in the New York Times listed Cannabis as a "Fashionable Narcotic". It seems like usage was actually fairly common before the late 19th and early 20th centuries when they became convenient scapegoats for criminal activity, and this became exacerbated by Prohibition
>>18722207In the late 19th/early 20th century normies were having a bit of a drugs moment. Prohibition simply did not exist yet, you could buy whatever you wanted over the counter and put whatever you wanted in your consumer goods. You had shit like cocaine enhanced wine and straight up meth being marketed as a handy pick me up for the hard working individual. 60s counter culture just forced drugs to become a culture war issue where there was none before.
>>18722190Why jazz clubs in particular? Were Jazz musicians literally making arrangements for stoners? That would explain why Jazz sounds better when you're high
>>18722408Because it was popular with urban black people
>>18722184Izzat failure
Jazz clubs already scared the moral panic crowd, so weed got invited to the party.
>>18722184The thing is was weed associated with jazz clubs? Sure musicians like Louie Armstrong would get high before improvising occasionally but by the thirties when Anschlinger and the weed laws came around jazz had already become mainstream and won mass appeal and the big count basie and duke ellington bands were touring, but that time also much of the polyphony had also shifted over to monodic ‘hot’ solos during the thirties and also the other thing is that this was before general relativity and einstein was understood this was the time of Newton and materialism and absolute space and absolute time. jazz and the globe of the mind that higher mathematics and weed revealed was a new vision that made all else appear as antiquated and outmoded while only jazz and the new literature could get at or communicate that new vision that was just getting born and is still getting born today
Weed was popular in the US in the 19th century, then Prohibition happened, and when Prohibition was repealed, weed still got caught in the crossfire while alcohol got off Scotch-Full, but by the late 20th century things started to cool off again and now weed is decriminalized again
