On this board there’s been many promoting virtue ethics and logic argumentation as if these things can somehow lead us to objective truth on their own.But logic only works from the premises you give it. If you begin with the assumption that God is not real and all believers are retarded, then your whole argument is restricted by tthat assumption. The same problem applies to virtue ethics. You can say justice is better than injustice, and that certain virtues help human beings flourish. But why does that make them OBJECTIVLEY good?Who decided what human flourishing is? How is it to be defined? What is justice? And if someone rejects that standard, what makes them objectively wrong ?. This sums up the confusion and chaos that we have in our subjective society today.Christianity is better.Good and evil is not for us to decide. It is from the nature of God. Human beings have objective worth because we are created by God, and we have a real purpose to worship God and follow his commandments. That gives Christianity something virtue ethics doesn’t have an objective morality.

>>18722730Pythagoras literally coined the term philosophia (love of wisdom) as a calque of the Avestan name for Zoroastrianism, Mazdayasna, meaning "worship/praise of Mazda (Wisdom)" because Pythagoras studied in Babylon under the Magi. Much of Pythagorean philosophy is derived from Zoroastrianism. Since he spent time in Babylon, Pythagoras was also influenced by the Chaldeans as evidenced by his obsession with mathematics (a very-Babylonian thing) and the Pythagorean theorem already existing in Babylon centuries before Pythagoras. In addition, Pythagoras also studied in Egypt and much of his philosophy is also derived from the Egyptian religion, even the purity and dietary restrictions practiced by Egyptian priesthoods were adopted by Pythagorean communities
