The Gospel of Mark predates the the Quran by approximately 550 to 600 years.

Why should I trust the Quran over the Gospel accounts when it comes to Jesus?

You shouldn't

It's kind of a giant theological hole in islam.
None of the versions of the bible and torrah that predate the quran correlate it's versions of events and the original versions of the bible and torah are lost anyway so there's no way for anyone to know what was said on them originally.

Its been interesting to watch the Islam vs. Christianity debate scene change over time. A long time ago Muslims would argue that Muhammad being illiterate was a point in favor of Islam's truth, but now an increasingly common argument against Islam is that Muhammad was hopelessly ignorant of what the Bible actually said so he endorsed it as true while contradicting it since he could only go off what he had heard

The earliest gospels of the New Testament were written decades after the purported crucifixion by second-third hand sources so they're hardly reliable either

Dead sea scrolls confirmed every book on the original testament.

But the original testaments are all lost and no texts pre-dating erzas recompilation of them exist.

Yet you accept the hadith, wait until you hear about those

I'm not a Muslim either

The Quran seems to draw on gnostic texts. The Apocalypse of Peter found in Nag Hammadi, claims Jesus on appeared to be crucified and was laughing in the distance watching it happen.

The Quran also claims the Jesus only appeared to be crucified.

Do you doubt God's work through Ezra? Then you would have doubted God's work through Moses too anyways. It's the same God. It's not Ezra who you have to trust, it's God.

The quran is basically just an copy of gnosticism just with fine details changed to fit arabic morals and culture aswell as with all the esoteric elements removed.
And with muhammed added on top as a new prophet

God isnt real.
Im not religious just approaching this whole canon debate from a logical point of view.

>It's older so hence betterer
This logic defeats the entire purpose of divine revelation. You know what's older than the Gospels? The Tanakh. Checkmate Idolaters. All praise be for HaShem and his wise Rabbis. ANd you know what's older than all Hebrew nonsense? Egypt. Checkmate Set worshipping Oarseph-descending evil sinaitic desert barbairans, nothing can beat the timeless power of Osiris.

Don't forgot that the Quran literally plagiarizes the Talmud because Muhammed was a fucking idiot who couldn't distinguish it from the Torah. He also seemed to believe the Christian scripture was a singular Gospel (or Injeel) from Jesus containing laws similar to the Torah and Quran, which Muslims today cope with by claiming the original Gospel was lost even though there's no evidence it ever existed.

>A long time ago Muslims would argue that Muhammad being illiterate was a point in favor of Islam's truth
I've always found this argument funny because Homer (a pagan) composed several epic poems that far surpass the Quran in length, quality, and poetic beauty.

>which Muslims today cope with by claiming the original Gospel was lost
Even funnier since the hadith talk about someone Muhammad knew who would write it

Islam and actual criticism are a new combination so it'll be interesting to see how it handles its Book of Abraham-tier historical problems

That argument has never made sense lol, the Koran is a terrible book. It's just remixed Bible stories with thinner characters who all say the same thing

I listened to it in Arabic even (the English translation was then read) and it didn't sound better than any random folk song. Homer in Greek is way catchier even if you don't speak the language

Compare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY4IDx2z0e4 to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjFMWWTWvuw, it's literally laughable even when the Muslim adds some kind of autotune
