Sweden in the imperial period was pretty much maxing out its power, they were using conscripts against volunteer armies to match them in manpower and collecting high taxes while other countries had a ton of feudal exemptions and such.I think they were doomed to fade long-term, but Charles XII's stupidity did not help matters.
