It is interesting to note that this attire was common in archaic Indo-European societies and is present in myths.

There is a transition from actual kidnapping to the "reenactment" of kidnapping in these cultures. As these tribal societies imposed laws and codes of honor, violent kidnapping became a crime punishable by death or war. For example, in ancient laws, taking a woman from another clan without authorization generated a blood debt. Kidnapping a woman without the father's consent violated the patriarch's property rights.

perhaps these kidnappings were permitted against non-Indo-European societies or enemy clans?

Yes. In the early medieval laws of the Alamanni (Pactus Alamannorum), we have records of severe punishments for abduction within the tribe itself. But the chronicles make it clear that when the Alamanni went to war with neighboring tribes, captured women lost their status as free citizens. Henry of Livonia says that Lithuanian warriors attacked villages by surprise, killed all the adult men, and dragged the women and children bound to their own lands. The chronicler explicitly writes that these women were distributed among the warriors as war prizes, forced into marriage. Ironically, it was Christianity that first in history saw the figure of woman as a human being and not prosperity without human dignity, and installed the concept of consent in Europe. before, women were considered cattle. And I'm not saying that this was good or bad.
