Medici cousin kills Medici ruler of Florence, then escapes. Ten years go by during which time the new Medici ruler of Florence, along with Holy Roman Emperor AKA King of Spain AKA father in law of dead Medici have been trying to kill the assassin Medici. Mercenary captain and his friend Bebo are hired to take a shot at it. Mercenary captain writes an extremely detailed account of the dramatic revenge assassination and subsequent chase through the canals of Venice and eventual international escape in disguise.
