It's funny how the Eternal Night of 536 AD happened right after Rome and Byzantium became Christian and their elite adopted the name Flavius from the founders of Christianity (Flavius Vespasianus, F. Titus, F. Domitian, Flavius Constantinus, Flavius Theodosius).

Even the Germanic invaders adopted the name Flavius, such as Flavius Chlodovechus, Flavius Theodoricus, and Flavius Odoacer. And the Roman elite were constantly creating and dismantling cults. An emperor would rise to power, create a cult, then another would rise and end that cult.
