Do you think religion, culture, and racial homogeneity are needed in a society or are these outdated crutches that humanity can do better without
>>18737668Needed for what?Societies can exist without those things, if that's what you are asking.
>>18737668They are needed, yes. "Invent your own meaning" is impractical in the same way as starting any activity from ground up is impractical. It's like you want to text a friend, and instead of installing a messenger, you start by developing your own OS.It's made even worse by the fact that people don't really know what they want. Furthermore, Established culture and religion have the greater good of a person encoded in them, but the cultural vacuum we now inhabit results in people believing greater good is whatever corporations advertise to them (since corporations have the greatest resources and thus presence in the current environment) - consumerism, one way or another; limbic capitalism. So you end up people trying to build their happiness from the ground up because they are "too cool" for tradition - but instead of even self-discovery, they end up following the corpo-advertised carrot. So, yes, religion and culture are needed both to serve as a source of actual values that bring "happiness" - and as instructions on how to get there.
>>18737752A society cannot exist without a culture. Culture is automatically and inevitably generated the moment a group of people begins living and interacting together. The question is, if the culture is manipulated for personal gain (as it is now), or if it's passed and refined by wise people from generation to generation.
