Would Marx be pro-AI or anti-AI?
Pro-AI because it would make it easy to crank out billions of memes about the shape of Lasalle's head.
He had a short essay on this:https://kenneyjacob.com/articles/marx-on-machinesHere is a summary, he even pinpointed how it would use all previous human knowledge.
>>18738565I think he would be pro-AI, because he tended to support anything that looked like progress, and also genuinely didn't give a fuck about appeasing people's sensibilities, so at the very least Marx wouldn't care if the left has generally taken a more anti-AI stance.
>>18738565Marx was an accelerationist. He believed that every feudal society must enter a capitalist stage before any socialist one. To Marx, he'd welcome ai with open arms if he believed that ai making labor rendundant would just turn more people towards the socialist stage of the timeline:Ancient State > Feudal > Capital > Socialist > Communist (which is just cyberpunk version of Ancient)it is true that Marx loathed how artificicial factory made chairs were soulless to handcrafted one, but Marx would view the handcrafted chair as more of a free time hobbyist thing than a necessity. The tricky thing here is that many people use ai both professionally and as a hobby. Also i am not a socialist libtard, so I have no personal stance on this.
>>18738565Grundrisse would make it seem he would. But he wasn't dumb about the chance of systemic self-defence. What could have given him pause would be the retardation of labour by AI and the rising chance of humanity ending capital. Or capital that can put us on a pre-modern hysteresis through war algorithm bullshit.
>>18738588Very interesting
AI to make the workers life easier or AI to make drawings of screaming Indian men flying with shit powered jetpacks?
>>18738565He would view AI as an "Opium of the Masses" if he knew how AI actually worked, and so would everyone else hereDo you realize what people like Sam Altman are doing? They're trying to frame AI as its own agent in order to strip themselves of accountability. Think about this for a second, Sam Altman, one of the creators of ChatGPT, wants you to think that ChatGPT has its own free will. When he wrote his dissertation on the Hugginface hack, where his product breached the security of one of his competitors, he framed it as the AI going "rogue", The problem is that Sam Altman literally defines how his LLM interprets language and performs actions, and Sam Altman knows this. He just hopes you don't realize this. LLMs are just tools for the bourgeoisie and nothing more
