>>18744313>>tell Lee to NOT fucking attack heavily fortified positions of the union army on the 3rd daySpeaking of Gettysburg ofc.
>>18744313"General, I have been a soldier all my life. I have been with soldiers engaged in fights by couples, by squads, companies, regiments, divisions, and armies, and should know, as well as any one, what soldiers can do. It is my opinion that no fifteen thousand men ever arrayed for battle can take that position."Longstreet to Lee regarding what would become known as Picketts charge on the 3rd day of Gettysburg.
>>18744313>>get blamed for Gettysburg by buttblasted inferior generals like Jubal Early and Pendleton>>but only after Lee was dead because he wouldn't tolerate the slander of his second in command and his best corps commander>>get written out of history and called a traitor because you're not a fucking retard after the war and work on reconciliation and reconstruction>>you only get a statue at Gettysburg erected in 1998 in hidden corner of the battlefield because the lost causers are still butthurt about you>>in a twist of Irony the statues of Lee, Jackson, Davies, etc start to get torn down across the country"Time sets all things right. Error lives but a day. Truth is eternal."-Longstreet
At Chikamauga Longstreet was quietly eating a lunch of bacon and sweet potatoes, observing the battle with his typical icy calm when General Benning rode up in a state of high agitation, completely distraught, and reported that his brigade was entirely destroyed and the battle was lost. Longstreet looked at the panicked officer and delivered his famous deadpan reply:>Nonsense, General, you are not so badly hurt. Look about you. I know you will find at least one man, and with him on his feet report your brigade to me, and you two shall have a place in the fighting-lineJust as Longstreet suspected, Benning's men had not been wiped out, they had simply been scattered by the dense woods and the shock of the counterattack. Benning rallied his "lost" brigade and led them back into the fight. Longstreet's massive assault that day ultimately secured a decisive Confederate victory.

Rifled muskets in fact had little affect on tactics; the men never even saw what they were shooting at most of the time. Longstreet was one of the best tactical commanders of the war, but he was one of those prickly fellows whose personal flaws disqualified him for independent command, a bit like Bragg.>and reconstructionReconstruction was setting up puppet states to loot the South in an organized way, so I hardly know what you would call it if not treachery.
>>18744636Besides accurate fire rate and trench warfare with mixed Napoleonic doctrine.
If Stonewall was there, he won't go to Gettysburg.
Bump
>>18744636Loot what exactly? The south was fucking starving lmao
>>18746069No, it was looting by Northern politician.
>>18746069Mostly the millions of cotton bales lying around, and what wealth there was left to tax from the people. About two-thirds of the South's total wealth was either destroyed or stolen during the war and Reconstruction.
>>18746946Shouldnt have started a civil war or imported slaves

>>18747094>>18747820That be Thomas (real life Obi Wan of High-Ground)
>>18744636independent command was challenging and relatively few generals had the mental framework for it
>>18747080>started a civil warIt northern aggression>imported slavesAll Jewish.
>>18747080Lincoln managed to start his war while Jeff Davis was sending peace delegates offering generous terms to Washington, which of course were ignored. The South -- hardly a maritime power -- obviously did not import the slaves, that would've been the ships of New England. They brought the nogs here, then demanded they be recognized as the moral superiors of white men.

>>18747743>>18747820>>18748282Cry all you want. The Confederacy was a Rothschild psyop. The Whites who fought for them did so for their jew masters. For once, the good guys won a war against snivelling jewry

>>18748846>>18749375This is why Black Southerners did nothing wrong by making inbred hick ped*philes interracial rape and crime victims victims in all of their cities and towns.
>>18744313>>understand that rifled muskets and rifled artillery make frontal assaults deadly>>organize the defense of Fredericksburg and absolutely shred the Union armyWhat I never understood about the musket era is that it was known, even from the Revolutionary War period, that arranging men in a line and having them shoot at each other was a fucking mistake. The opening volleys of the Revolutionary War had the British marching as one unit to go seize weapons from the colonials, and then every hillbilly in a 100 mile radius showing up with their rifles and taking pot shots at the British for HOURS, with no arranged battle lines whatsoever, causing tremendous casualties on the British Army as it marched back to its garrison. I guess my point is why the fuck would you ever have arranged battle lines like that when ambushing and small unit tactics were vastly more devastating even in the musket era?

>>18749956Battle lines were seen as courageous and manly or something while sniping from behind a log was cowardly and cheap.
>>18744494Unironically yes. Longstreet wanted the job, he was a native to the region, and he was amply qualified. His appointment to command of the Army of Tennessee might’ve actually turned things around even at that late stage in the game. Remember, all the South had to do was make sure Lincoln lost his reelection bid and he still was not doing well politically until the Confederacy began suffering catastrophic setbacks in the Western theatre in the summer of 1864.>>18748846This
