why aren't you catholic yet?

I am straight.

Because I'm a born-again Christian. King James only fundamentalist Baptist. Enjoy Hell.
>>
I’m trying to be, but why does every thread on this board have to be about religion? Can’t we talk about the migration of the Alans, or construction of the Central American pyramids?

Are you a Baptist? Did you go to Harvard? No? So in what sense are we brothers?

because religion is the fundamental aspect of the human condition, speaking from our unmost being. history without religion is just strategy. you need to be sumerged in religious though to truly know history

Sorry Raùl, but as long as you're in league with idolaters and pederasts I'm not considering you Christian. I also highly doubt your "faith".

Can we make one thing clear. Christians can judge and discern and call others to repentance, but they cannot place verdicts on individuals like some neo-Pope.

I am Catholic but I don't like the idea of praying to saints however I find most protestant churches to be weird so idk what to do
>>

>why aren't you catholic yet?
I was. catholic (adj) and orthodox (adj) Christian Church.
The problem is the Catholic (proper noun) Church that you're probably thinking of worships Mary as a goddess. I was turned off by the deceptive bait and switch with the pagan religion of the Vestal Virgin pagan religion.
>but we venerate not worship Mary.
Not according to the Council of Trent, you're worshiping and guilty of Syncretism.
Hope this helps, but I'm pretty sure it won't.

the catholic churches here are just social clubs for FOB filipinos

You pray to saints and ask them for nothing but their prayers to God. Comes from the Book of Job.
Saints are alive in heaven, and servants of God like Job. According to the Book of Job, if you are in mortal sin, God does not listen to your prayers. So you ask saints to pray for your lost soul, to praise God, to tell God that you repent of your sins.
>>
>>18747597
>the catholic churches here are just social clubs for FOB filipinos
all too often this is true. Christ preached against this. The Church is for the worship of God, not a social club and not a place to make secret business deals. The whole of Matthew 23 is the lesson.

I’m not Catholic because I believe in the Word of God which the Catholic Church places as beneath it. They believe in the Bride being able to tell the Groom/Husband what His Word is, when the Bride is about remaining pure for her husband, rightly discerning which is His Real Will and Word and therefore his actual blood he shed that was righteous, and this is also like Indiana Jones choosing the right holy grail on the table in the movie. Which also came from Catholic as well as other middle eastern myths to conjure up this scene, but wasn’t necessary. You should already know what God’s Word is. It’s like knowing you aren’t supposed to lie , or kill, or steal. The Word of God the KJV no apocrypha all 66 books is supposed to be taken to heart. There is two ways this can be interpreted. One, to read it because you love it at your own pace. And two, the material worldly way in which you like going to school, study a verse to recite to get graded on your performance, and hope to impress everyone with your grades. I don’t remember verses I studied and got graded on in school in my youth, but I remember very well reading the entire Bible from beginning to ending when I finally had time away from school to just read it because I wanted to in a time of my life when I had all the time to just read the Bible and see what it said. I wish 10 years of a child’s life could be spent just reading the Bible instead of going to school. Eveyrone’s lives would be instantly different if we had that kind of society, where instead of being forced to go to prison of school with everyone else, a person can also opt out and just opt to read the Bible at their own pace and not have to go to school. The idea I see instead pushed by democrats is they want communism and government mandated girlfriends. I thank God for my wife who promised to marry me , twice, 33 years apart, in Jesus Christ’s name, and that God already promised in His Word a One Wife to One Man.

>if you are in mortal sin, God does not listen to your prayers
The whole point of Christianity is that we are all sinners which is why God sent Jesus. Jesus is the sole mediator between man and God (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no need to pray to saints
>>
I’m a Christian instead.
>>
>>18747600
>You pray to saints and ask them for nothing but their prayers to God.
That is clearly untrue by a cursory examination of actual prayers to saints. For instance, the infamous prayers of Alphonsus Ligouri to the virgin Mary ask for salvation, not merely prayers. Besides petitions, these prayers to the dead heap praises and glories upon them, showing indisputably how pagan and idolatrous they are. Besides, if they were mere prayer requests (which they absolutely are not) rather than actual religious prayers in themselves (which is worship) they would be the sin of necromancy because communication with the dead is strictly forbidden.
>if you are in mortal sin, God does not listen to your prayers
This reflects what the apostle Paul calls “a different gospel, which is not another” (Galatians 1). This is why Romanism must be recognized as a damnable heresy rather than Christianity. According to the bible there is no such thing as a state of mortal sin. If you have been justified by faith, you have peace with God through Jesus Christ. It is impossible for the believer to ever fall into God’s displeasure again, and their relationship is not contingent on the believer’s actions, because their sins have been covered over by the blood of Christ. If it was contingent, all men would be doomed.
>>
>>18747846
Because of their sins, God wouldn't listen to their prayers. They were told to talk, i.e. pray, to Job and God would listen to Job when Job spoke for them (prayed to God)
The objections I've seen to this is that Job was alive and Saints are "dead", as if souls in heaven were not alive. The promise of the next life needs little explanation to most who say they are Christians, but if you need that I shall find references for that part of the faith as well.
>>
>>18747967
Yet, God told us to pray to his servant i.e. Saint in Job 42. It would appear your god is Luther and you believe my God acted in vain... again.
>>
>>18747977
>Alphonsus Ligouri to the virgin Mary ask for salvation, not merely prayers.
Yes, that is Mary worship and was forbidden at the Council of Trent.
Mary pray for us - Good.
Mary grant me stuff - Synchronism and the belief in a false goddess. The Protestants are right about this
Marionist have corrupted the faith.
The faith comes to us via the Bible, the Bible says Saint Peter will receive all divine revelations (never mentioned his mother) and we are warned against false gospels.
The Magic Talisman to get you out of the judgement of the Lord (brown scapular) is a dead giveaway that it's Mary worship.
>>
>>18747977
>This reflects what the apostle Paul calls “a different gospel, which is not another” (Galatians 1).
The infamous protestant ignoring the rest of the Bible and taking a passage out of context.
JOB 42. Did you god Martin Luther rip out the book of Job from the Bible as well?
>>
>>18748534
Not that anon and no, praying to Mary or saints other than Jesus Christ is forbidden in Christianity. Only allowed by the itching ears to the voices of demons.
>>
>>18747241
Because they're weird snobs, the least Christ-like Christians I've come across so far.
>>
>>18748550
I quote the bible chapter an verse.
You say it's not allowed by Christianity.
You're not even a Pope. Who made you the vicar of Christ that you presume to change the Bible itself just because your god, Luther told you to the Bible was wrong (and also that all you need is the bible and the Lord acted in vain when the Lord built the church on Saint Peter)
>>
>>18748534
>God told us to pray to his servant
No he didn't
He told Eliphaz to go with Job and make an offering to God, then Job will pray for Eliphaz and God will accept it, because he doesn't not want to hear from Eliphaz.
>Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job
Notice how the ancient Israelites did not pray to their dead ancestors, regardless of how righteous they were, and how doing so is explicitly condemned as necromancy in the Old Testament.

There is no Biblical, or even historical, evidence that Peter was ever bishop of Rome. These are papist fairy tales. In reality, the church founded by Peter was Antioch.
>b-but he founded Rome too
Uh huh, and where is the evidence?

>>18747241
If I convert to Christianity I would convert to orthodoxy, Catholicism has lost its tradition and is lost to modernity and is a danger to the west

Church was made by my Lord, who I believe is the son of God and you apparently believe was just a man. Which doesn't explain why you believe Luther over Christ when the two have different views.
>>
>>18748964
Proof? or atleast a coherent argument?
>>
I don't claim a denomination because it's beyond the point. Everyone interprets the material in their own way so if I were going to get picky about associating with others who share my exact view I'd be my own church. My aim is to view everyone as generously as I'd like to be viewed regardless of what groups they come from and to decide how to deal with people based on their fruits alone. I fail at this regularly.
