>French knights did most of the Recinquista from Barcelona and the Spanish march to Barbastro Crusade and siege of Lisbon.
Stop talking nonsense. None of that was decisive in the Reconquista. For example, Barbastro—where the Christian force was half Spanish and half French—remained in Christian hands for only a few months, as the forces of the Taifa of Zaragoza recaptured it the following year (1065). It didn’t change the map of the peninsula. The events in Lisbon didn’t really have a direct impact on the core of the peninsula or the military pressure there (and there were hardly any French people involved; aside from the Portuguese, the majority were English and German). You could perhaps point to Barcelona and the Marca Hispanica, but they gained independence almost immediately (because the local population won the vast majority of direct armed confrontations against the Franks, such as the second battle of Roncevaux),
and joined up with Aragon, leading to the well-known Mediterranean conquests (from the italian territories to the Duchies of Athens and Neopatras in Greece) while fighting and pushing back the Muslims at the same time.

Every single decisive battle of the Reconquista was won by the Spaniards on their own—to no one’s surprise. It is particularly shameful to recall how the Franks deserted en masse, acting like total cowards, before the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (the most important and decisive battle of the entire Reconquista). There were 8,000 of them, and they fled like dogs with their tails between their legs—barely a hundred remained. In the end, 14,000 Spaniards (75% from Castile, 23% from Aragon, and 2% from Navarre) fought against more than twice that number of those shitty Moors—the very ones you French folks seem to like so much. Of those 30,000 Saracens, 20,000 were put to the sword on the battlefield. The Spaniards lost only 2,000 men. And the Iberian Peninsula was never the same again.

I agree with the first point. However, the linguistic, political, and cultural origins of Portugal lie in Galicia—not the other way around (regardless of how much some Portuguese people might like to boast about their Lusitanian roots). Portugal is essentially a Galician offshoot (originating in what is now northern Portugal and southern Galicia back then) that expanded southward.

I agree, but the cultural, linguistic and politic origin of Portugal is Galicia

>cultural origins of Portugal lie in Galicia
It's the other way around, Galician origins lie in northern Portugal, in the lower Duero valley. Even the name comes from the Iron Age tribe that inhabited that area, the Callaeci. Galicia is just Portugal that failed to get independence.
>>
>>18751127
Nope. The Callaeci inhabited modern Galicia, northern Portugal, western Asturias, and western León. The group you mention was simply were simply the first one the Romans encountered as they advanced northward during their conquest. As they continued further north, they realized that many other tribes shared the same castro hillfort culture, religion, and a very similar language; for this reason, they applied the same name to all the other inhabitants of the northwest (Gallaecia).
