Why have famines ended? It seems it was pretty common back then but some time in the past, it just stopped. You never have famines any more.

>Why have famines ended?

Three reasons:
-Old fashioned famines have largely been made obsolete by trade globalization & foreign aid. YOUR crops might have fucking withered and died, but you've still got grain & corn shipments from 'wherever else', so the worst case scenario is now food price fluctuations instead of everybody starving.

-Colonial period famines were supposedly caused by a Malthusian philosophy advocated by the UK that believed they were the only thing that would control the population of 3rd world peasants. Communist period famines were caused by the inability of their governments to collect accurate/honest consumer data, due to the lack of a private market, and so they were just perpetually wrong about consumption rates, harvest, - not withstanding forced land seizures and the relocation of experienced & skilled agriculturalists.

-Modern Industrial agriculture mechanized and automated the production of most staples (cereals & grains, tubers, and beans), and advances in petroleum refinement have made fertilizers & pesticides ridiculously cheap. These two developments have made agriculture ridiculously effective, minimized most labor inputs, and food abundant to the point that most large continental countries can easily afford to dump literally millions of tons of food onto other countries.

We are about to have a famine, anon

I guess the real filial piety was industrial agriculture all along

Weird how famines stopped happening when cameras were invented.
>>
The end of the British empire meant the stinky Anglos couldn't starve people anymore.

no, communist era famines were usually because they were either
>murdering anyone who was good at farming,
>enslaving everyone who could farm and giving them bad directions on how to farm
>just straight up telling them to do shit that made it impossible to farm
>>

>Decisive Wei victory
Why do they keep doing this?

You repeated what he wrote but in the guise of a screeching retarded chimp.

Actually i never hear about any Indian famine besides the ones the brits caused for fun. Did india not keep records or did they never have famines? How come theres so much history from China for thousands of years and then with india theres basically nothing
>>
>>18753157
No, you are just a seething communist.
Communist farming was SO shit that even with a global economy and a lot of deception they struggled to make up for their shortages
>>
White people solved agriculture so hard they can feed the entire earth if they have to. There are still mass crop failures for whatever reason, but they no longer mean mass starvation and social unrest is inevitable. Just apply for aid and the UN will air drop a million tonnes of corn on your pathetic nation.
>>
>>18753320
Europeans didn't solve it, industrialization did. Yes I understand Europeans caused the industrial revolution but that doesn't fucking mean shit.

Average Indian was 4'2 900 lbs before britishers
after britishers he was 3'2 20 lbs

Because they are chads and would rather fucking eat their own children if it means defeating their enemies. If you noticed, most of them fought to the death rather than surrender. The Ming fought a desperate struggle as did the Song against the steppe hordes and all of them died. Pretty chad. Compare this to the Indians who all surrendered the moment they saw the White Man.

It's been the best of times and the worst of times:
-On one hand the advances in industrial agriculture have trivialized food production. As a planet, we make maybe x4 the amount of food we consume (a lot of it gets thrown out, we continue to have issues with transportation, storage, logistical issues persist), and could possibly even bring that up to x8 if we decided to hyper-focus on it.
-On the other hand industrial agriculture has completely fucking devastated the traditional, sustainable, organic methods that our peasant ancestors utilized across China, France, India, Mexico, etc.. That allowed them to maintain agricultural systems for 100's (in China and Japan's case 1000's) of years, due to *overproduction.
*To contextualize this: when Mexico signed onto NAFTA the US immediately (like within the first 3-4 months) dumped a billion, gazillion, tons of corn into their country, crashed the price of corn, and un-employed millions of Mexican peasants.

The Mughal Empire, the government immediately preceding English occupation, experienced a famine roughly every... 35'ish years? They basically had a famine "once a generation". The Mughal Empire was able to somewhat endure themselves against famine in a similar way that the Qing Dynasty in China had: federal investing in canalization/irrigation, a switch away from the tributary "I take away 15-50% of your rice crop" tax system to a marketized "pay in cash" one, the introduction of consumer mechanization (think manual-hand-cranked tools), and homesteading.

This is a good thing though. Now that labour is freed up for factories.

"Yes", that was the case for at least 10 years when manufacturing was being moved from Canada and the US to Mexico, but then it was moved to China. A lot of these *peasants would get funneled into the "illegal migrant labor market" America demands for their agriculture (specifically vegetables, dairy, and seafood).
*Which, if anyone is curious, isn't necessarily a 100% terrible situation for the illegal if they can get back home unmolested as migrant work in America typically doesn't always conflict with the busiest periods of agricultural work in Mexico, so an illegal worker can: work in America, make 15,000 to 20,000 untaxed, run back home to work on their own farm or fishing boat, do whatever during the winter, repeat the process.

A pair of German guys named Haber and Bosch figured out a way to produce ammonia out of hydrogen and nitrogen from the atmosphere, thus allowing them to mass produce fertilizer that made mass-scale agriculture an order of magnitude cheaper even on previously poor quality soil.

Since the development of the Haber-Bosch Process there has been no actual excuse for any country to experience famine, which is why it is so jarring and egregious that both the Soviets and the Chinese managed to accidentally starve tens of millions of their people to death for what amounted to ideological reasons. Even in these cases it took truly prodigious amounts of ineptitude to manage this, the Chinese had to actually expend enormous amounts of effort to fuck up China's agricultural system, and the Soviets had to start making it illegal to question Lysenkoism, which held that wheat had class consciousness.
