Why are baptists so mentally ill?
>>
>>18751672
All the weird pagan syncretic shit that Catholics do is handwaved by retarded semantic arguments.
>>
>>18751672
>muh Bible says
The Bible was compiled by the Holy Church, thus Church tradition overrides the text, because the text itself comes from Church tradition. This is why every single protestant is a mentally challenged heretic.
>>
>>18751687
The Bible was canonized over hundreds of years at ecumenical councils, where sects other than Roman Catholic church were present as well. You can't entirely ascribe biblical canonization to the Catholics.
>>
What are you hoping to get out of this thread anon?
>>
>>18751691
>sects
There was no Roman Catholic Church before 1054, the Orthodox and Catholic existed in unison.
These churches are now the inheritors of the traditions, but protestants are just heretics. Just look at the American ones. They cling to Bible as God given, yet only read a bastardized translation, never giving the supposed sacred text the sanctity the Quran has in Islam.
>>
>>18751698
>There was no Roman Catholic Church before 1054, the Orthodox and Catholic existed in unison.
Implying only one or two Christian sects existed prior to the Reformation
>>
>>18751672
This is fucking weird and unnerving
>>
>>18751672
Why would a Christian AI generate footage of Jesus' own mother getting smashed in the face with a hammer?
>>
>>18751727
Because he's not actually a Christian and is just trying to piss people off?
>>
>>18751727
You don't know what the mother of Jesus looked like. Who says she wears a headscarf? And why are her eyes blue? Ancient Jews had black eyes darker than wine. The Grandfather of Jews said so himself.

It's like you learned nothing from the Nehushtan.

Most of them are black. One of my ex girlfriends converted because her stupid friend convinced her and broke up with me because I wouldn't get rid of my record collection. Oh and before her conversion she was a massive whore.

>>18751731
You're actually retarded. Like genuinely a drooling spasticed mongoloid who requires 24/7 care and assisted living.
No we don't know what she really looked like. Irrelevant. It's supposed to represent her.
By your logic, are you going to claim every single crucifix doesn't represent Jesus because we don't know what he looked like?
How fucking stupid.
>>
>>18751747
>Hehe this'll REALLY get them going
Yawn
>>
>>18751747
They represent her. Same way a statue of you would figuratively represent you.
How would you like it if people went around destroying paintings and statues of you? It's still bad.
>>
>>18751764
A representation is not the thing in itself and sanctifying the representation is idolatry, as is sanctifying the (non-divine) family of Jesus.

They represent an abomination in the eyes of God. These are not mere depictions, they are objects of worship. And as was said before, they don’t even depict Mary, they depict some random Italian woman that acted as the model.
If a statue or painting of me was being worshipped, I would absolutely want it to be destroyed, and I know Mary would want these idols which are built and worshipped in her name to be destroyed if she had any knowledge of them because she was a righteous woman.

Serious Christians don’t use those either

Sanctifying the representation is idolatry, yes. I'm not a Catholic.
But then what is destroying and defacing the representation? You think Jesus would be happy about that?
>>
>>18751778
Ones that actually respect God's law, the first two commandments are a good start.
>>
>>18751757
>By your logic, are you going to claim every single crucifix doesn't represent Jesus because we don't know what he looked like? How fucking stupid
That may be “f*cking stupid” to you, but that is what was asserted by the historical Byzantine iconoclasts and the Protestant reformers. Your images don’t represent Jesus, they represent someone else and are labeled as Jesus. You know there are depictions of Jesus as every race under the sun? Are those all supposed to be considered accurate depictions? How do you worship the picture of some Japanese guy, and think it’s Jesus? Despite the popular yet awful argument that depicting God the Son becomes permissible because of the incarnation, the human nature is no more visible and depictable to you than the divine nature.
>>
>>18751780
Yes, especially given people are praying to it and making offerings to it. If Jesus saw that thing in his temple he'd smash it himself.

By God too:
Deuteronomy 4:15-18

You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below.

>Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
>Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
Jeremiah 7:18-20. King James Version.

Pretending that christianity is a system that needs to be formally axiomatized is a mental illness. the "semantics" are the point. You can never define anything in colloquial language.
I'm not even a religion tard and I understand this. Christians would be much better off never "debating" anything.

It's an idiom, anon. Being born of a woman simply means he's human. Matthew 11:11 says the same about John the Baptist but doesn't identify the mother either.

Protestants being like Muslims chimping out at a misunderstanding of intercession will never not be bizarre. Such butthurt against those requesting intercession from Mary using a statue as a visual aid. They seem to forget that Mary is Jesus’s mother and he explicitly said on the cross for his disciple to place great importance on her and for her to treat the aforementioned disciple as her son. The fact the disciple is unnamed should be obvious enough that he’s a stand in for all Christians, and that Mary will continue playing a role treating Christians as her own children.
>>
>>18752538
>requesting intercession from Mary using a statue as a visual aid
Jesus never told anyone to request "intercession" from Mary and bow to her graven images as "visual aids."
>he explicitly said on the cross for his disciple to place great importance on her and for her to treat the aforementioned disciple as her son
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Matthew 12:46-50

As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
Luke 11:27:28

The discipline is Lazarus by the way.
>>
>>18752535
You said born of a woman, a man is not a woman.
>>
>>18752132
Roman Catholics are all about axiomatic formalities, retard
>>
>>18751790
Jesus never once commands or even focuses on iconoclasm within the New Testament. Him driving out money exchangers and livestock sellers at the temple isn’t even close to that. The Old Testament idolizers were clearly those Hebrews who reverted to Paganism, something which was stamped out by the time of the New Testament.
>>
>>18752554
Adam is both her father and her mother. That makes him a (wo)man.
>>
>>18752551
>Jesus never told anyone for intercession
He never brought it up as it was already a practice people did. Do you ever ask people to pray for you? Do you believe somehow that does not apply to people in heaven. Or do you conveniently and arbitrarily cut out Maccabees when it is done in scripture. Or when Paul asks for intercession prayers?
>Matthew and Luke passages
Jesus places importance on his wider church, yes he reminded people of that. He also reminded his disciple (representing the Church, unnamed but known to be the young John) to treat Mary as their mother which places great importance on her. The argument you are trying to build based off these passages is pretty flimsy, neither excludes the other inherently. That is unless it’s syncretic Mexican beliefs that straight up worship Mary, but that is a regional practice not backed by the church.
>>
>>18752561
He is neither. He did not beget her or birthed her. All credit goes to God. He's her mom and dad.

>>
>>18752581
You have to jump through several exegetical hoops to justify praying to Mary statues with those verses. In 2 Maccabees 12:43-46, Judas Maccabeus offers sacrifices and prayers on behalf of fallen soldiers who died wearing unlawful pagan amulets, so that their sins might be atoned for. This is a prayer offered TO GOD for the benefit of departed humans, not a prayer directed to the departed. And in 2 Maccabees 15:12-16, Judas Maccabeus has a VISION where Onias (a former high priest) and the prophet Jeremiah, both of whom had died, are seen praying or interceding for the people on earth on their own.
Paul also never tells his readers to ask dead saints or anyone who has passed away for intercessory prayer. Paul frequently asks LIVING Christians to pray for him (e.g., Romans 15:30, Ephesians 6:18-19, 1 Thessalonians 5:25), and he prays for living believers. There's no instruction, command, or example in Paul's letters (or anywhere else in the New Testament, for that matter) telling believers to direct prayers or requests for intercession to deceased individuals. Some traditions do debate 2 Timothy 1:16-18, where Paul offers a prayer/wish for mercy for Onesiphorus (and mentions his household). However, this is an instance of Paul praying for someone (who may or may not have been deceased), rather than Paul instructing readers to ask a dead person to intercede for them.
>representing the Church, unnamed but known to be the young John
John 11 explicitly states who the beloved disciple is. And John 19:26-27 isn't about Mary in particular becoming a mother of all Christians, it's about the body of believers gaining a greater spiritual family, receiving houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, and children within the body of Christ, echoing Mark 10:29-30.

God was a midwife, he brought Eve from inside Adam.

If you can read the Old Testament and tell me that God approves of idol worship then you really need to go see a neurologist. Next you'll tell.me Yahweh doesn't care about high places.

>>18752668
The book of Maccabees claims that the abomination of desolation spoken about in Daniel happened 200 years prior to Jesus when Antiochus IV built an altar to Zeus in the temple and offered a pig as sacrifice.

But Jesus tells his apostles that it is something that they are still waiting to happen in the future and it will be a sign that the second coming is near.

So Jesus didn't know it had already happened and told the disciples that it will happened right before the end of the world when it had already happened before he was born.
