Anarchists suck at warfare because warfare requires hierarchies, unicity of command and fast decision making. Spanish anarchists tried to find various workarounds (elected officers and so on) but that still resulted in a slow decision making process which is crippling in war.

It's not so much about 'row row fight the powah end all organizations' (but some organizations really do gotta go) it's about treating the state as a tool that people can use and not allowing the state to treat people as tools the state can use. I think the idea of the 'true anarchist' is a spook. People who want zero state power are much less common and much less dangerous than the people who want maximum state power (even for noble goals). Further down the line you've also got people who recognize the problems with totalitarian states (where the state wants to poke it's nose into everything) or authoritarian states (where the state is unresponsive to the needs of the people) but plenty of people are against these things without being anarchist.

You use Anarchism to harvest the energy of disaffected, alienated young men/women and use them to tear down existing power structures or otherwise weaken the host society. If they are defeated, they still cause damage, still weaken the target. If they somehow succeed, they are weak and incompetent, they will always be easy to destroy and replace later.In Spain, the Anarchists were an attempt backed by the Soviets to weaken Spain, provide an inroad for the Comintern to put roots down there, but they failed because Spain was on the line between "Backwards Feudal State" and "Industrialized Modern State," in the former the Left rebels usually win, in the latter Reactionaries always win. Ultimately the Reds got fucking raped in Spain because they were trying to appeal to a vanishing portion of the population, the alienation was there but there wasn't enough of it, too many institutions and groups were simply innured against the appeals to envy that comprise 100% of the Left's recruiting strategies. It was worth giving a try because it required minimal investment and their funders didn't care if they failed.TL;DR Anarchists are expendible and are treated as a disposable crisis to be thrown at potential targets to weaken them, but this fails most of the time.
