If we are talking about a group of people, man are expected to fight and do dangerous stuff, woman on other hand will do less dangerous things but will most likely pop out kids all their lives, without modern medicine I might add. There is also in case of a war or disaster, man are expendable so there is good chance they will die, while fertile woman have use to any human so most likely they would be kept alive/protected.
