"Monotheism, created by pre-Socratic Greeks like Xenophanes, was the worst thing that ever happened to us. Before, the shitty world we live in was explained by the gods doing whatever they wanted. They were powerful and did whatever they pleased. After Greeks like Xenophanes and Plato came up with this idea of a single, always good god, the explanation for the shitty world we live in had to change. If it's not God's fault, then it must be humanity's fault, which is sinful. Obviously, this explanation doesn't explain a worm eating an ox's eye from the inside, or how free will can exist under an omniscient god who already knows all our decisions and all the resulting mess."

*jews were polytheistic until the Hellenistic era, when its elite began to be influenced by Greek philosophers. Just read the Bible and you ll find a lot of gods there like Ashera, Baal, Yam, Mot, Resheph, Deber, El,Yarikh, Shamash (Semesh), Shalim (which Jerusalem was named after, Yerushalim)
Yonatan Adler has already shown that Judaism did not exist before the Maccabean era.

That wasn't Plato's position.

Plato mentions his ethical views a lot but he never really gets in to WHY bad things exist or this lower world different from the world of Forms exists. You can really interpret his creation view and man’s fall from Grace in Christian terms as anything. No I don’t think the Timaeus account was his actual thought of how earth was created.

I'd hate to be so historically ignorant as to believe this slop
>jews were polytheistic until the Hellenistic era
First Temple Judaism and Second Temple Judaism weren't polytheistic. Put down the burning bush, mate, you've had too much

Aristotle does that and they shared notes

Yes but Aristotle is different enough where he’s his own thing. Plato is like “okay we’re not Monist like Parmenides says SO falsehood and evil has to exist outside of the Forms… but also I will leave you fill in the blanks on that.”

I like Plutarch’s explanation. He argues that before the demiurge ordened the cosmos by imprinting the forms onto the receptacle (as shown in the Timaeus), there existed a second principle which was irrational. The demiurge ordens this irrational principle into the world soul. The source of evil can then be understood as the pre-cosmic irrationality of the dyad.
