>We’re going to take this young man
>We’re going to rape him
>We’re going to remove his testicles
>Then we’re going to stick him in church
>And we’ll make him sing to Jesus
>Btw, this continued until 1922
>People just went along with this for like 500 years
I often wonder about the mindset behind people that did this? Were they knowingly committing evil? Did they truly think what they were doing was right and godly? Did they think Jesus was flattered seeing this raped man be forced to sing to him? Did they not believe Jesus would be filled with righteous anger at such disrespect to his creation?

Historical facts like this often make me wonder if society is just completely irredeemable with no hope of ever becoming better. Even in man’s attempts to worship God and goodness, he commits unthinkable evil to accomplish it, and he, seemingly, feels there’s nothing wrong with it.

What do you even do with such anecdotes other than just sigh and concede that humanity is completely hopeless?

Humanity is not good or evil in nature. They are human moral concepts in which we perceive the world. Nature cannot be good or evil, therefore, humans are simply amoral by nature.
>inb4 the human psyche is still a product of nature
A snake can interpret the world its way, but it doesn't mean most colors do objectively not exist.

>We’re going to rape him
That wasn't part of it. Everything is rape or cuckoldry with you people.

The process was also typically voluntary and/or had the family's consent.

Castrati almost exclusively came from extremely poor families. Music conservatories in Italy often evolved out of charitable orphanages or welfare institutions (conservatori) that took in poor or abandoned children. While these schools housed and trained the boys, the pupils were typically sent there by struggling families because of extreme financial need in exchange for an intensive musical apprenticeship. A small number came from stable or even wealthy families; for example, the famous castrato Caffarelli came from a family with enough means that his grandmother provided him income from vineyards to fund his studies.

>rape
Can't be, consensual.
>did they knowingly commit evil?
No, since no evil occurred. You think yourself above God? Arrogance.

>Family consent makes everything okay, even extreme genital mutilation of a child
>Everything is moral as long as you have heckin’ consent from somebody, even if it’s not even the person being mutilated
Behold, the prime example of a man that makes this world the hell it is. No decency. No true morality. No empathy. A viscous, uncaring psychopath.

Not an intentional part of it, no, but come on anon, orphanages are notorious for kiddy fiddling and those are institutions intentionally set up to protect vulnerable children. I can't imagine there was much concern about Guiseppe the Castrati getting raped as long as it didn't damage his vocal chords

>Genital mutilation is okay as long as it’s done to poor people in exchange for food
Get me off this planet. I’m surrounded by monsters.

I think it started as an imperial practice under Constantius (Constantine's son) or maybe even as early as Diocletian and Constantius just expanded it. Eunuchs were useful for obvious reasons. Theh were the monarch's eyes and ears and since they had no sons their lives were in theory tied with the ruler's. In practice they formed cliques and kabals like theh did in China amd conspired to ammass a lot of wealth at the state's expense.

Who said it was okay? The point is they weren't taken to be sex slaves or tortured. It was a surgical procedure for musical purposes.

Obviously it was highly unethical, but you're exagerrating what took place.

They were literally tortured, and who cares that it was done for musical purposes. You people are insane.

Exaggerating genital mutilation of a child?
